East End United e-blast

Sunday Worship October 23rd, 2022 10:30am
Flipping the Script: The Good, The Bad, and the Gracious in Luke 18: 9-14
Online & in-person at EEU Eastminster Campus 310 Danforth Avenue

"A pharisee and a tax collector walk into a temple..." It might sound to us like a strange introduction, but when Jesus told this story, his audience knew exactly what to expect. Unfortunately for them--and fortunately for us--God has a few surprises in store. Join us online and in-person on Sunday at 10:30am!

Sunday Zoom Link

Join us online for Rise & Shine at 10am and online Coffee Hour after church. The same Zoom Link is used for Rise & Shine, Church and Coffee Hour.
Irrespective of which EEU campus we are worshiping at, during every Sunday service there is a ‘church school’ where your child’s faith is nourished and strengthened with age-appropriate materials by our trained teacher, Pat Roy. All children are welcome from JK to Grade 6. Youth that volunteer to help Pat on Sunday mornings will qualify for volunteer hours!  Email Pat for more information: patroy57@hotmail.ca
Join us tomorrow for the Danforth Grow Hope Field Visit and learn more about how we are helping to end global hunger - and how you can help too!
The world is experiencing more hunger than ever before in its history. It is estimated that around 800 million people do not have sufficient access to food, this is nearly 10% of the world’s population.

We have taken up the challenge again and agreed to jointly sponsor 10 acres with the same farm as in previous years in Stouffville. You can still contribute to the project and any amount donated is welcome and appreciated. You can decide to sponsor an acre at $600 or any part thereof. Donate here:  https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/72219

Please join us in Stouffville on Saturday October 22nd at 2pm.  The address is 13582 Ninth Line, Stouffville. The visit will begin with a visit to the field where we will hear from the farmer as to how well the crop did this year, why they are engaged in this initiative and how it is coordinated with the local Mennonite growing project that also supports Canadian Foodgrains Bank. It will include a discussion about the work of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank with the Ontario regional representative who will talk about growing projects and how they contribute to end hunger in the world. You are invited to bring some food to share (in individual portions to limit contact) so that we can celebrate together the bounty of the earth.

If you want to participate, please email danforthgrowhope@gmail.com or text message Guy at 647-241-1084. Car pooling is possible – just put your name on the list! If you can offer a ride please let us know. here.
Nourish East End invites our East End congregation and community to join the monthly community dinner on Monday.
The Ve'ahavta Project: Sunday November 6th, 1pm - 4pm
EEU Eastminster Campus
Register by TODAY, October 21st!
You, your family and friends are invited to participate in a deeply meaningful day of hands-on volunteering. The DJC is partnering with Ve’ahavta to raise funds and make blankets and food for people living on the streets. Our activities will take place at Eastminster and are suitable for all ages. This is your chance to be a safety net for people who don’t have one. With your help, those who don’t have someone to help them – a family member, a friend, or a community – will receive the critical supports they need. Join us and hundreds of other volunteers at various locations across the city! Donations are welcome, but not necessary to participate. Teens who register can receive credit for volunteer hours.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of religion. While DJC is partnering with Ve’ahavta, we are also inviting our multifaith partners in the Danforth Multifaith Commons and the East Toronto Multifaith Community.

The Program: We’ll gather together for a livestream and welcome from Ve’ahavta, including some interviews with clients, and then move into blanket and cookie-making and wrap-up.  Register here: Registration Start Page - The Ve'ahavta Project 2022 (akaraisin.com)
