 Meet Our Staff: Becca Baca

One of our newest missionaries is from Florida, USA. Ever since Becca was a little girl, she could recognize the hand of God on her life. She grew up in a home that knew about Christianity, but never really practiced it. Her father left the family when she was two years old, leaving behind his wife and five kids - two of them have disabilities. Her home life was very difficult, barely getting by with the bills and hardly having enough food in their stomachs.

By God’s grace, at age fourteen she heard the beautiful message of the Gospel, and she gave her life to Christ. Later, she went to a Word of Life Bible school for two years, then she earned a degree in Biblical Counseling. During her second year at Bible school God placed missions on her heart and she felt the call to “go”. God led her to Word of Life Hungary to serve at the Bible Institute Dean of Women.

We are very thankful that she wants to serve with Word of Life Hungary as we accomplish God’s mission for the world (Matthew 28:16-20). Presently Becca is raising her support to be able to serve in Hungary long term. Please pray for her. Please click this link if you want to learn more about Becca or wish to help her.

Update from the Bible Institute

The Bible Institute year started in September with 44 students from 12 different countries. By now our students are familiar with our campus, with the school life and we are thankful to witness the formation of a close-knit and loving Christian community among them and our staff.

In this school year one of our resident teachers, Josh Bramer and his family are on furlough in Texas. Josh is working on his PhD degree at Dallas Seminary, and they are visiting their ministry partners. Thankfully, God provided a substitute for Josh. Al and Sherie Green have been serving as Missionary representative of WOL Hungary for many years. They agreed to join us for this school year. Al is teaching Old Testament and New Testament Survey; Sherie is helping with administration, and both are actively involved in discipling and mentoring our students. We are thankful that God called them here.
We just finished our ministry week in the Bible Institute. Our students went to eight different Hungarian churches from Thursday to Sunday to help the ministry of local congregations in any possible way. Led by staff members groups of 5 – 6 students served all over the country with physical work, youth evangelism, music, outreach, and through a wide variety of other avenues. They built friendships, promoted our Bible Institute and our camping program, and introduced our ministry to a lot of young people and their parents.

Summer Camp is Nearing. Are You Coming?

Planning is already going on for the 2023 summer camping season. Misi Ágoston our Camp Director is working on a variety of projects to prepare our first-ever Sci-fi themed camping season. The schedule for the summer is already set, so are the prices. In preparation for next year and to encourage campers and volunteers from this year, we already held a Summer Camp Reunion in early October. What a great meeting that was! A hundred young people showed up to worship with our team, to learn from the Word of God from Laci Kadar, to enjoy fellowship and board games and – of course – to end the meeting with a phenomenal pizza party. So, we are working hard to prepare everything.
By the way, you could help us, dear reader, will you?

First, we are looking for short term missionaries, who will help us next summer. We pray for English teachers (if you speak English, you qualify 😊), baseball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and football coaches (once again, you do not have to be a pro). Please contact Misi at magoston@wol.org if you or your church are interested. You could really have a Gospel impact on unsaved Hungarian children and teens by this ministry.
Second, we pray and work hard to be able to help all needy camp applicants next year. We believe that finances cannot and should not be an obstacle for any Hungarian young people to come to our camp and hear the best news ever. Please pray with us for this. A full camp scholarship costs $200 and a week with us can change a young person for his or her life. If you want to help, please click on this link.

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray for the spiritual growth of our Bible School students
  • Please pray for the leadership transition of our ministry, as Alex Konya will pass on the baton to Laci Kadar on Dec 27, 2022
  • Please pray that God will provide for the financial needs for our ministry, particularly with these very high energy prices
  • Please pray for next year’s camp preparations.
