Long hours, depression in new doctors
In an "emulated" clinical trial, longer work weeks were strongly linked to a larger rise in depression
symptoms, pushing some first-year resident physicians into moderate or severe depression
range, according to research led by the University of Michigan.

Electric planes are coming

Electric planes might seem futuristic, but they are not that far off, at least for short hops. U-M researcher Gökçin Çınar develops sustainable aviation concepts, including hybrid-electric planes and hydrogen fuel alternatives. In The Conversation, Çınar shared her thoughts on key ways to cut aviation emissions and where technologies like electrification and hydrogen are headed.
