Did somebody say happy hour?

As we all know, times are tough - all this money spent on energy, inflation in general, continued losses at the horse track, it just never seems to end! Well, we've decided to do something about it. That's right, we're gonna launch a special happy hour menu with tasty discounts on an array of classic tipples for those who want to have a quick snort in the late afternoon/early evening before it gets all crazy around here like it does every night two hours before we close. So check it out: Mi - Fr. 17:00 - 19:00 and Sa + So 15:00 - 18:00.

Who's spinning this weekend?

Friday (21.10) - DJ Johannes Fleck helps us bid farewell to one of the best to ever do it: tonight it's Lea's last shift. Expect snake jazz, more snake jazz and mostly snake jazz, but also some funk, disco, 80s mania and whatever else. 19:00 - 22:00.

Saturday (22.10) - It's DJ Sebastian Squared with DJs Sebastian Heck and Sebastian Etzkorn, playing Hip-hop, soul, dirty funk, reggae, it's all going down. 19:00 - 22:00.

1986 LA Raiders vs. Denver Broncos

Our friend Kilian Kretschmer installed a video piece at the Eel some of you have noticed. Meant to be a distraction more than anything to relieve the gaze bartenders sometimes endure when people sit right in front of them, the piece is comprised of footage taken from the 1986 LA Raiders vs. Denver Broncos game. Cropped via an analog zoom (a camera recording a TV), sport is obviously taking place with lots of bangin' and clangin', but trivial things such as the score are left to be imagined.

SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!

Sunday's have turned into a bit of a situation at the Eel. I suppose it has something to do with our refined approach to hangover remedies, gentle mind massages with relaxing records, homemade cakes and delicious coffee. It's really one of the better days of the week to hang out here - one of my favorites, anyway. That said, no one is asking me, but here I am telling you just the same. Anyway, come on over and let us get you fixed up and ready for the work week. If you work. No judgement.

STILL NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON

Thank you to everyone who came last Wednesday for I'M SMILING BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON! It was a great night! As ever, DJ Enkidu brought a variety of beats from around the globe and Dr. Lubomir was stirring and shaking them up nice and tasty. It's a good thing there were a lot of artists in the crowd, because a 9-5'er might have had a bit of a tough Thursday.

Dead as fried chicken = "Winter Hours"

As it happens every year when the weather cools, it's as dead as fried chicken at the Eel until at least 17:00. There's just no people around anywhere - you could shoot a canon down Werderplatz and not hit anything. We have now switched to what we call "winter hours".
