Greetings to all,
I just passed the two-month period of my tenure as Interim President and Head of School at Admiral Farragut Academy. And, I have been enjoying so many wonderful opportunities to work with the Board of Directors, faculty & staff, students, parents, and alumni alike. The stories are remarkable, and the journey has just begun!
From the opening meetings with the faculty to the parent socials, from conversations with boarding and day parents to witnessing volleyball, golf, swimming, and cross-country, from visiting classes, morning formation, and speaking with the student leadership, to eating in the mess hall—each event have given me a better understanding of the school we all know.
Are there strengths and areas to enhance and develop—certainly? Are there rich traditions and opportunities for growth—no doubt. But I am confident, with a dedicated team and support from our alumni there is much to celebrate 90 years of developing leaders. As we propel into the future we stand firm in honoring the traditions of those who went before us, as we look to create global leaders who will continue to impact our communities around the world.
I look forward to meeting you back on campus or during our travels to regional gatherings and meetings. Victoria Raymer and I have begun our travels to visit the alumni constituency, and I look forward to meeting as many alumni as possible. In December we will be in Philadelphia for the Army-Navy weekend and will continue dropping in coast to coast to say hello.
Alumni Homecoming Weekend will be January, 19th-21st and we are planning many exciting events, including our Hall of Fame inductees, and gatherings on campus and off for our alumni to enjoy. So SAVE THE DATE, we look forward to welcoming you back.
Onward and upward,
Kevin J. Lockerbie,
Interim Head of School
