On Wednesday, October 19, at the 8:30am Mass, Don McGovern from the Saint Simon Parish Finance Council, presented the check to Olga Islas, Saint Patricks' School Principal, to assist them with their STEM Building Project. She was joined by Jed de Torres, Vice-Principal and their Student Council who were welcomed by Vani Abound, Saint Simon Parish School Vice-Principal and Student Council. Both student councils plan to get together in the future to have a tour of the Saint Simon STEM building to share ideas and collaborate. Thank you Saint Simon Parishioners for your support of this project. More information about the STEM Building Project here.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL 5TH SUNDAY COLLECTION

In the Gospel, Jesus teaches us that our heavenly Father gives us the grace to be grateful for everything that He has given us and to show that gratitude by generosity to others and to those who are most in need.

Last month, St. Vincent de Paul helped six local families with rent and rent deposits to avoid being evicted. On October 29th and 30th, St. Vincent de Paul will be hosting their 5th Sunday collection at all the Masses. Please be as generous as possible to help other families who are experiencing similar hardships and financial despair. Thank You!

Saint Simon Catholic Church was named after Simon, the Apostle, also known as Simon the Zealot.
  • Saint Simon was surnamed the “Zealot” for his rigid adherence to Jewish law and to Canaanite law. He evangelized and preached in Egypt, Cyrene, Mauritania, Ethiopia, and Persia.
  • It is also believed that Saint Jude (Patron Saint of those in Need) traveled with Saint Simon throughout Mesopotamia, Libya, and Persia preaching and converting many people to Christianity.
  • He was originally a fisherman prior to becoming an apostle and was one of the original followers of Christ, not to be confused with Simon Peter. His feast day is on October 28th.
