PDST Primary PE: Physical Literacy - Seminar 4 
(Apply NOW)
Sub cover is available for 2 teachers from each school in Ireland to attend Physical Literacy Seminar 4.  This seminar focuses on developing pupils’ motivation and confidence to participate in physical activity for life. Participants will explore a variety of strategies that can be easily implemented in PE lessons to motivate and develop pupils’ confidence to improve participation in the PE lesson. Resources will be provided to teachers in attendance and this seminar is running in October in venues around the country.  Attendance at previous seminars is not required.

PDST Primary PE: Cooperative Learning Workshop

Cooperative learning is an instructional approach which can be used across any strand of the PE curriculum and has been shown to enhance pupil motivation, confidence and ability to work together positively in PE. In October, these exciting 2 hour cooperative learning workshops will take place in Killarney, Letterkenny, Inishshannon and Edgeworthstown.  Numerous other venues available in November, with further details and booking available HERE


PDST Primary PE Resource: Goal Setting and Self-Assessment
The PDST primary PE team have developed a suite of resources to support pupil goal setting in PE.  These resources are explored as part of physical literacy seminar 4 and are now available to view and download HERE

PDST Primary PE: In-School Support
(Apply NOW)
Applications are now open for PDST in-school support. A primary PE advisor can visit your school to support you with planning and preparation of your PE programme, to facilitate lesson modelling across all strands of the PE curriculum and whole staff professional development sessions. Schools can apply for in-school PDST PE support through the online application system HERE


PDST Post Primary PE: AUTUMN Workshop (Basketball)

The PDST team are delighted to announce details of our autumn evening PE workshop, ‘Basketball - Building Tactics and Differentiation in a Post Primary PE. There are 13 workshops taking place throughout the country in October. commencing 10/10. This CPD is free to attend but does require pre-booking as spaces are limited to 25 teachers per event. Don't miss out.

Planning Ahead -  'Active Break Every Day' Challenge 
(November 14 - December 9) 
This 4-week challenge is designed to support teachers, at all class levels, to build movement breaks into their daily routine. It is one of the KEY whole-of-school activities that primary schools working towards ASF must undertake and should form part of the annual calendar for all ASF schools.

New Let's Get ACTIVE Challenge (Irish Heart Foundation) 
Inspire your pupils to be active every day with the NEW and improved 'Let’s Get Active' Challenge. This FREE 4-week challenge includes a booklet for each pupil to track and reflect on their activity. Pupils aim to be active for 60 minutes every day, across the 4 weeks, and learn about motivation, goal setting and health along the way. Challenge packs include a certificate and stickers for each pupil. Ideal for use in conjunction with the 'Active Break Every Day' challenge.

If you have any difficulties logging in to your account or accessing your online application forms please email Majella eolas@activeschoolflag.ie, remembering to insert your roll number in the subject line. 

Important: Renewal vs. New Applicant 
If your school achieved an ASF at any point in the past our online system will recognise you as a renewal school and the additional renewal criteria will apply. If a number of years have passed since your previous flag, or for any reason you would prefer to re-engage with ASF as a NEW applicant school, please email Majella eolas@activeschoolflag.ie,, including your school roll number in the subject line, and we will adjust our system accordingly.
