COOPER BASKETBALL

Alumni & Support Club

Hello Cooper Basketball family,  we hope you had a wonderful Fall.  Just want to update you on Cooper Basketball for the month of October 2022.

The City of Hawthorne Honors Coach Eric Cooper
Coach Cooper and his staff were honored by the Mayor of the City of Hawthorne, Alex Vargas, and the Mayor Pro Tem, David Patterson, for their participation in the Hawthorne Basketball Academy (HBA). The HBA was a week long youth basketball camp that was run by Coach Eric Cooper for the City and the Hawthorne Police Department. The camp was designed to give the kids in the City of Hawthorne a chance to work side by side with the Hawthorne Police Department. The Hawthorn PD wants to start early in building relationships with teens and young adults by sponsoring events that teach, build character, and keep them off the streets. The camp was fully funded by the City of Hawthorne and the Hawthorn PD. Coach Cooper plans to take this idea to the cities of Chino and Ontario sometime soon.

FALL PREP CLASSIC & THE BORDER LEAGUE

The Chino High School boys basketball team had a chance to showcase their talents for the 2022/23 season by participating in the Fall Prep Classic and the Las Vegas Border League.  Chino matched up against high level talent in the back to back weekend events,  The team competed hard and got a chance to improve and get ready for the new season.  Chino went 0-8 in 4 days of basketball but used the experience to show some improvement.    Coach Cooper's mind set is to have them compete against top level talent early in the season to get them to be ready for a playoff run at the end of the season.  Chino saw major improvements from Hayden Decker-Curry, Manuel Alba Jr., Kyle Morgan & Fabian Gonzales.  Last seasons Super Sophmores Kevin Gonzales and Nate Mendoza took ready strides to compete for more playing time and new comer Christian Gibson showed that he will compete for a starting job as well.  Seniors Justin Reyes and Jason Hilliard will be pressed to show that they both are ready to impress college coaches for scholarship opportunities.

Thank you to long time supporter of Dream Builders Integrated and Cooper Academy, David Logan for stopping by and talking to the Cooper Academy athletes about life and becoming the best team that they can be.
SUPPORT

We are looking for two things. Your support and your support!!!

The first type of support we need is your involvement.  Many of you are pillars in the business community and we could use your talents to help strategize in the planning and execution of securing a facility, upgrading our multimedia department, assisting in house keeping/ taking care of the boys and many other useful things that Cooper needs to flourish.  Most of all we want to communicate with you and many others to build a strong team to support our efforts.

The  second type of support is financial support. We are asking you to join our SHARING IS CARING program to sow a seed of life into our kids and our program.  We are asking our alumni and support team to begin our Sharing is Caring support program.  Our entire Dream Builders & Cooper Family has a chance to help support the vision that God has passed on to our group of dedicated mentors.
Our entire Dream Builders & Cooper Family has a chance to help support the vision that God has passed on to our group of dedicated mentors. We are asking for a monthly donation of $100 to help us see our dreams turn into reality.  If that is not possible we encourage you to make a donation of any amount but make it monthly.  We will then be able to estimate how your on going support will make an impact in our efforts.
