October's Scariest News

We love Halloween. Really, it's sort of the unofficial official holiday of immersive. People like to dress up in costumes, turn their houses into immersive experiences and get out there and do something that might feel a little risky.

What's not to like?

This year Halloween means something different at the Immersive Denver Headquarters. That's because we are up to our neck bolts in planning for the Denver Immersive Gathering. Yes, the DIG is only a few weeks away our attention is focused on what comes after Halloween. We don't need ghosts and goblins and high-end haunts to frighten us. We have invoices, spreadsheets and certificates of insurance to make our hair stand on end.

Which is a long way of saying:

We hope you are coming to The DIG. We still have a few tickets left and LOVE to have your join us.

Also, if this newsletter seems a little shorter than usual (and did you notice it's a week late?), we would just ask for a little understanding.  It's turned out to be busy month.

In this issue

Spooky shows, spooky bars, haunts, new shows and even a production job listing.

  • Spooky shows
  • Spooky bars
  • Haunts
  • Production listings

And don't forget to buy your Denver Immersive Gathering Tickets!

Project 7 Sins

presented by Audacious Theater
Audacious Theatre gives the Seven Deadly Sins an immersive reboot.

Technology is an incredible tool. But anyone with a Facebook knows it can be used for great good and great evil. Just look at our biggest tech companies which are helmed by people who may or may not be literal comic book villains.

This morally dubious world is where Audacious Theatre has chosen to set their latest Halloween immersive experience, “Project 7 Sins.” In this show, audiences are invited to a swanky Halloween launch party for new and not-at-all-sketchy start-up Sinnovation. The swaggering founder hopes to draw investors with their groundbreaking new tech: a system that harnesses (and monetizes) the Seven Deadly Sins — possibly via some light demon summoning.  But when the power goes out The Sins are freed. And the audience has to embrace their sinful side if they want to contain them once again.

Where: Lumonics Light and Sound Gallery 800 73rd Ave, Unit 11, Denver, CO 80229
When: Oct. 14 - 29 @ 8:00PM
Pricing: Tickets start at $25

Hallowmass 2022

presented by itchy-O

More than a mere concert, Itchy-O’s Hallowmass celebration—like the primal, ecstatic, proto-religious rites from which it springs—is a harrowing pilgrimage beyond the self.

Hallowmass is both a sanctuary for the Radical-Avant community and a journey into healing, through rites of reflection, adoration, and dissolution, building to a percussive blast of cathartic bombast.

Longtime followers of the 57-member strong elite performance collective may be familiar with the tradition; attendees are encouraged to offer mementos binding them to lost companions, comrades, communities—people, places, times, ideas or anything that has passed into the past—in a cathartic celebration of impermanence.

Where: Summit Music Hall, 1902 Blake St, Denver, CO 80202
When: Oct. 28 & 29th 7:00pm
Pricing:  $29.50

Last year we made a guide to haunts around town with the help of our local NoPro correspondent and haunter, Danielle Look. With the DIG looming, we haven’t accomplished a full haunt tour haunt this year, so we’re relying on the good journalists over at the Denver Post for a round-up.

We were fortunate enough to make it to opening weekend of Thirteenth Floor last month, which you can see from the photo above, was terrifying (in the best possible sense)
