Three Ways to Provide Lunches for Neighborhood Academy

Neighborhood Academy is a private school at Neighborhood Fellowship that ministers to around 30 children who live in the vicinity of the church near 10th and Rural on the near East side of Indianapolis. Jim and Debbie Strietelmeier were sent from Zionsville Fellowship to plant this inner city church some 25 years ago and continue to faithfully serve and minister to the needs of the people in the area.  If you would be able to provide a healthy, protein packed lunch for the students and teachers, there are several open dates for this school year. Here are three ways that you can provide lunches:

  1. GIFT CARD | Buy a $40-50 Kroger gift card. Neighborhood Academy staff will purchase the food and drinks and serve the kids lunch. Purchased Kroger gift cards can be dropped off at the ZF church office, 9090 W Oak, Zionsville, IN 46077, or electronically sent to Deb Bissell in the ZF office (dbissell@zfchurch.org).
  2. PREPARE A MEAL | Make a meal or purchase food in advance to feed 30 kids and 10 volunteers. Bring it to Jay and Roberta Parks’ home in Zionsville. Roberta and Jay teach at Neighborhood Academy and are happy to deliver the food and help serve it. To coordinate, please email Roberta Parks at jaybparks@aol.com.
  3. PREPARE A MEAL & SERVE IT |  Make a meal/or sack lunches (to feed 40) and come serve it at Neighborhood Academy on a school day.

New Deacon Candidates Introduced

Recently, two ZF members were introduced as deacon candidates during our service. Elders and deacons are two roles that the New Testament identifies to serve the church. Elders are the shepherds and leaders. Deacons come alongside to serve the church and meet various practical needs. Both of these offices have specific qualifications. In I Timothy 3:8-13 we read:

Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.  And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

After completing a process of assessing their readiness, we’d like to introduce Josh and Cody Elmore as our deacon candidates. We’re excited about the prospects of them serving our body as deacons. We’ve experienced them to be believers who set a tone of humble service, genuine devotion for Christ, and love for others.

We are now inviting the church body to give us any feedback before we appoint them to the role. Your affirmation matters to us. Please let us know your response in the next couple weeks. You may reach out to elder, deacon, or the church office with affirmations, concerns, or questions.
