NOVEMBER 2022

Hard to miss!
SCULPTURE TO DELIGHT AND PUZZLE

Library patrons have been greeted by two monumental sculptures as they come into the library. Done by the artist, Ann Weber, they invite you to imagine and wonder...a perfect fit for a library! Made out of recycled cardboard, stapled together, they reflect the artist's intent to make something wonderful out of materials that have been thrown away. It is on loan by the artist.

IN GRATITUDE...
As a long serving and dedicated public servant, Amy Worth has no peer. Now our community is recognizing her by naming the library rotunda after her. Since being elected in 1998, she has never been off the City Council, and she has served as mayor of Orinda for five terms. Her love of the library and her connection to it goes way back...from serving as president of the Friends of the Orinda Library to participating as a library volunteer. What a fitting honor to Amy as she steps down from public office. A city sponsored celebration and reception will be held on Sunday, December 4th from 3:00-5:00 on the library plaza.

TRAVEL FAR...IN A BOOK

Travel to faraway places though the eyes of an author. The Bookshop has a great selection of travelogues and guides on places the world over. Sometimes reading a travel book can be as transformative as the journey itself! All proceeds go to the Orinda Library.

IN THE LIBRARY

November brings to mind family and this wonderful book by author, Isabel Allende, has family at its center. 100 year old, Violeta describes her life, with all its calamities and joys, to her grandson. The story is set against the political upheavals in her homeland, an unnamed Latin American country. This piece of historical fiction weaves personal stories into time and place.
