Nemanja Šarbajić - Vernissage

Each fall, as temperatures cool and trees bursts into brilliant, earthy hues, we continue a tradition of exhibiting a new series of abstract paintings from our good friend Nesa (Nemanja Šarbajić). This year, the title of the exhibition is "I'm Smiling Because I Have No Idea What's Going On", which is appropriate: not knowing is a common state of mind in any painter's process - and this is definitely the case for Nesa. Through his meditative explorations of color and form, smiling is a common reaction to the calm he experiences while working.

Join us on Wednesday, October 19th as we smile together, enjoying friendly company and conversation. The evening's soundtrack comes courtesy of DJ Enkidu from Spin That Disc Crew starting at 18:00.

Who's spinning this weekend?

Friday (14.10) - DJ Drunkasauraus brings the heat, dropping the needle on dusty sides of the Eel’s heaving collection of vinyl, from roots reggae to folk, rhinestoned country to New Orleans funk, jazz and at least a little Wu-Tang. 19:00 - 22:00.

Saturday (15.10) -  First time playing at the Eel, it's DJ Thomas Riegger and his collection of hardcore polka, classic sonatas and Albanian folk - nah, just kidding. He's gonna spin some old school hip-hop, R'n'B, alternative, grunge and, of course, The Melvins! 19:00 - 22:00.

Dead as fried chicken = "Winter Hours"

As it happens every year when the weather cools, it's as dead as fried chicken at the Eel until at least 17:00. There's just no people around anywhere - you could shoot a canon down Werderplatz and not hit anything. So, starting next Wednesday (19.10), we'll be switching to "winter hours".

Wednesday - Friday
17:00 - 22:00

Saturday - Sunday
15:00 - 22:00

The NEW PHONE BOOKS ARE HERE!

I really should have went into comedy and not the bar business. We all know this. ANYWAY, the above title is in reference to this scene from The Jerk (1979) starring Steve Martin. But what I really wanted to say is the new IPA is here! That's right, it's Siren Craft Brew – Time Hops: Simcoe, a so-called clone of one of the most talked about double (aka, "Imperial") west coast IPAs ever brewed - Russian River Brewing's Pliny the Elder.

P.S. The last time we thought we'd tapped this beer and told you about it, we were lying. But we didn't know we were lying. We're not bad people.
