A Prayer for the Week
O God, Spirit of righteousness,
you temper judgment with mercy.
Help us to live the covenant written upon our hearts
so that when Christ returns
we may be found worthy
to be received by grace into your presence. Amen.

New Faith Formation Study
Can a Mustard Seed Be a Mountain?

Join our Faith Formation Study Group on Wednesday mornings at 10:45 as we dig deep into the synoptic gospels of Mathew, Mark and Luke (with occasional side dips into John!) to analyse, explore and raise these challenging questions:
  • How/why do these 'Synoptic Gospel' stories differ from one another?
  • How are they the same?
  • Why should I care about what these writers have to say about Jesus - or what Jesus had to say?
  • How might this study of ancient writings make a difference in my life?
What should you expect?
- Before the session, you'll receive a little reading material on the Gospel of the week, maybe with some links to other commentaries and the Zoom link.
- During each session, there will be a time of fellowship, a facilitated review of the subject of the week and a wide-ranging and lively discussion.

Please contact Fr. Michelle (rev.michelle@stgoth.ca) for more information.
Pints of View

Consider joining other male members of the parish at Pints of View on Tuesday, October 18th, 7pm at St. James Gate's Guinness Room.

We are honoured to have Reverend PJ Carefoote lead this month’s discussion with a session titled "The Danger of Indifference".

If you would like to attend and receive our lead-in discussion article, please email keithgrattan1@gmail.com.

Messy Church:
Orange Shirt Day

On September 30, we had our first in-person Messy Church for the year!  The kids had a lot of fun painting a new banner for Orange Shirt Day which can be hung in the sanctuary.
Street Patrol
The Youth Group assisted with and participated in Street Patrols on October 2 and Thanksgiving Weekend.

Over the past two weekends, the youth group and their families prepared lunches and distributed them to people who are unhoused or facing food insecurity in downtown Toronto.

This was a tremendous amount of work and a true example of faith in action.

Over both weekends the Youth of St. George's contributed to not only the distribution of more than 350 lunches and drinks but also to the creation of connection with members of our community in need.
Contemplative Prayer Group

We are resuming our Contemplative Prayer group (formerly Centering Prayer).  Contemplative Prayer is a simple method of Christ-centered silent prayer for those looking for a deeper prayer life while living in the world.

The group meets on Thursdays at 10:00am at the church.  For more information, please contact Rev. Janet Sidey at 416-482-4470 or janetsidey@hotmail.com
Introductory Workshop

If you are interested in learning the basics of contemplative prayer, there is a two-part Introductory Workshop via Zoom.

PART 1:  The Introductory workshop lays the foundation which includes both instruction and group practice in the method of Centering Prayer.  The 2.5 hour Zoom workshop is led by Sue Woollard, a presenter trained by Contemplative Outreach.  Please join her on Monday, October 31, 2022 from 7:00-9:30 pm.  Please register with Sue at sue.woollard108@gmail.com.  Registration is recommended but sign-ups on the day are also welcome.

PART 2:  Consists of 4 weekly Follow-Up sessions of 2 hours each.  All sessions include: a 20 minute prayer period; a video presentation on the principles, discipline and method of Centering Prayer to support you in your practice; and a Q & A period.  Part 2 will also be held on Zoom 7:00-9:00pm on Mondays from November 7-28.
This week, we remember those who have died, and those whose memorials occur at this time, especially:

The Horne & Finlay Families
Ken Ross

Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.  May they rest in peace and rise with Christ in Glory.
Church Office Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 9:00-1:00. The office can be reached at 416-239-2341 or info@stgeorgesonthehill.ca
