FALL 2022

Susan’s Sentiments

Our team has been busy these last few months celebrating our programs, special awareness months, and planning future events and developments.

During September we celebrated Workforce Development Month. We are proud of OLHSA’s Associate Director of Workforce Development, Michelle Wilson-Merriwether, who was recognized as a Workforce Development Hero by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals. Michelle always puts the needs of our clients first and helps them to remove barriers to employment and life successes.

While we promote all of OLHSA’s services year round, two October awareness months, Energy Awareness Month and Head Start Awareness Month, receive special attention. Both programs make a major impact on the lives of the clients we serve every day. Energy Awareness Month focuses on OLHSA’s Weatherization Assistance Program which reduces household energy burdens and helps families save money. Learn more about OLHSA’s program here. You can apply for a Weatherization career here.

Head Start Awareness Month focuses on Head Start program’s service delivery to children and families in core early learning, health, and family well-being areas. Head Start works to engage parents as partners every step of the way. Learn more about OLHSA’s programs here or consider a career with us by learning about job opportunities here. You can also check out our recently released Early Head Start/Head Start Annual Report here.

As the holidays approach so do opportunities to give to the organizations and causes that are dear to your heart. This year we are asking our generous donors to consider participating in OLHSA’s Virtual Trivia Night as part of your yearly Giving Tuesday contribution. The proceeds from this fun-filled evening of comedy and trivia directly benefit emergency services provided by OLHSA. You may even consider becoming a long term donor and receiving special recognition from OLHSA. Read more about our Donor Spotlight below. We appreciate you helping us help those in need in the communities we serve!

With gratitude,
