According to the website National Today, Tuesday, October 11th, 2022 is Ada Lovelace Day. Who, you might ask, is Ada Lovelace? She was an English mathematician and scientist, whose collaboration with Charles Babbage on the plans for his Analytical Engine was a huge step on the path to the creation of the modern computer. She was the first person to foresee the use of computers beyond simple calculation, and she published the first computational algorithms in 1842, a hundred years before the first actual, working computer was even created!
Ada Lovelace Day is a day to celebrate women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). You can join commemorate the first computer programmer by learning to code, or researching other woman scientists and the state of women in STEM today, and their research. And if you'd like a wine to sip on while you're doing all that reading, come in on Tuesday the 11th so Jeff can suggest a wine to go with the day! Tell him to look for one that is pioneering, analytical, passionate, complex, and inspirational... or whatever Ada means to you.

Spooky Season is in full swing - this past Sunday, Patrick actually had customers in costumes come in to shop for bottles! And what better time is there to bring back one of our favorite, and most popular, wine flights? Our Buffy the Vampire Slayer flight is back in action this coming week, October 11th through 16th. Come on in and taste five wines that absolutely, 100% don't taste like they came out of a Hellmouth.
