Thoughts
Tears come to my eyes often. I admit it, I am a crier. I cry when I am happy, I cry when I am sad, I cry when I am upset, and truth be known, sometimes I just cry. They say laughter is good for the soul. I surely hope crying is good for the soul too because tears have flooded my eyes since learning of the death of my beloved friend Bruce Robinson.

Ours was a special relationship. Yes, we worked together for 22 years but he was so much more than a co-worker; he was my friend and brother in Christ.  To know Bruce was to love Bruce. It was work to get to know him but the work was well worth the effort. He was one of a kind and his quirky ways were endearing. That’s not to say we always agreed, and no one could be madder at Bruce than me. That said, our friendship was enduring; there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t do for him, nor him for me. He watched out for me all the time. He worried often that I didn’t pay attention to my surroundings, and he would get on to me in a heartbeat. He visited me every afternoon before leaving work, then he was off to see about his dad or to check on someone else that might need help. That is who Bruce was, he loved helping others and he did so willingly.

I have so many Bruce stories and pages could not hold them all. I will treasure my stories and ponder them in my heart always. This one thing I do know and share, his faith was rock-solid. Time and time and time again he told me the Good Lord would take care of him. I trust with all my heart that the Good Lord did just that over these past few months as he lay in a hospital bed paralyzed and unable to speak. I trust the Good Lord sent his angels to fill his hospital room when we could not be there for him. I trust the Good Lord’s calming peace soothed his anxious heart. And I trust at just the right moment in time the Good Lord whispered in Bruce’s ear, “it’s time to come home with me.” I trust Bruce took the Good Lord’s hand and crossed over into eternal bliss – his prophetic words coming to pass. He is in heaven with the Good Lord and the Good Lord is taking care of him!

I will miss my friend as will countless others.  So together, we give thanks for the life moments we shared. We still may cry but eventually we will smile BIG and give much thanks to the Good Lord for the life of Bruce Robinson. Think About It…Connie

Leviticus Bible Study
. . . a 12-week study beginning . . .
Wednesday September 7
in the Sanctuary of Centenary UMC

The book of Leviticus can be challenging for contemporary readers, but its pages are filled with a spiritual riches. More than just archaic rules, the laws outlined in the book of Leviticus reveal God’s holy character and the forgiveness he offers all who repent.

In this accessible study, Dr. Speegle will help you understand how the rituals in the Old Testament Law point to Christ’s work of atonement on the cross – highlighting the riches of the gospel foreshadowed in the Old Testament for Christians today.

Here at Camp Wesley Pines, we're committed to helping individuals and families give their children a life-changing summer experience in any way we can - including providing financial assistance! In addition to helping give children and youth an opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ, it's our year-round priority to take care of the land and facilities that have been given to us. That said, the other half of the funds raised from this event will support various capital improvements around the campgrounds!
