Preparing Ukraine's accession to the EU | The case of cancer

On October 7th, a videoconference took place among the OECI President, professor Thierry Philip and professor Vasyl Checkun, Director of the Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology of National Academy of sciences of Ukraine (IEPOR).
During the videoconference, OECI reiterated its readiness to collaborate with Ukraine and support its process of accession to the European Union, as previously announced at the OECI General Assembly 2022 in Valencia.

OECI is ready to support creating the best conditions to deliver cancer care in the country in order to curb patient emigration. IEPOR will devise a list of urgent priorities and will draft a plan for the two coming years.

Incoming Events | OECI Oncology Days 2023

In 2023, the 45th Edition of the OECI Oncology Days will be hosted by Institut Curie in Paris on June 14 - 16.

This Edition will provide an overview on strategic cancer initiatives, including the Cancer Mission and Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan in order to open a platform for debate and foster coordination amongst these actions at a European level.

The event will kickstart on June, 14 with a session on "Quality in Cancer care, research and education" and a presentation on "DIGICORE: an added value for European outcomes research studies" from the DIGital Institute for Cancer Outcomes REsearch.
This Edition will also feature a scientific conference on “Cell as a therapy” on June 15th, and will close with a roundtable on cancer science and policy.

OECI Training Programme | European Research Policies 

Upon proposal of OECI's President elect, who is presently leading the European Affairs Management, a training course on European Research Project policies, applications and management will be announced shortly.

The training programme will be organised in virtual format for early-career scientists operating in an OECI Member centre/institute. OECI aims to prepare the new generations of European Project Principal Investigators.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training, and the four actions of the European Research Council will be also presented.

EACR - OECI Molecular Pathology Approach to Cancer Conference

The conference will take place in Bergamo (Italy) on March 28th – 30th 2023 and will provide participants with a broad view of the scope, methodologies, future directions and challenges in addition to practical approaches for molecular pathology in research and in clinical settings.

The potential uses of deep learning in pathology will be discussed. The meeting will help participants to establish a network of interactions and to build bridges to foster cross-disciplinary studies.

  • Next generation molecular pathology
  • Comprehensive cancer profiling in clinical diagnostics
  • Perspectives of artificial intelligence (AI) in pathology
  • Spatial and longitudinal diagnostics to overcome tumor

OECI A&D Auditors Training Course 2022

Inveruno, Italy | 24 - 26 October 2022
The  A&D Training Course 2022 has come to an end. 

The aim of the course was to provide trainees with the skills required to perform an internal audit of a cancer centre. 

Over the two training days, the 16 new OECI Auditors learned the A&D Standards, how to do a successful review and report findings in the e-tool. 

We would like to thank all the participants for joining us in Inveruno and warmly welcome them in the OECI Community! 

OECI's Gender Equality Strategy

The OECI Gender Equality Plan (GEP) has been devised to foster the adoption and implementation of GEPs throughout the OECI Membership and OECI's service providers.

The Plan is the outcome of a self-assessment exercise on the gender equality status within the OECI; it covers a 3-year period (2022 – 2025), and it was approved unanimously by the OECI Board of June 14, 2022.

In order to ensure that this GEP is properly implemented, the OECI Board has also established a Gender Equality Committee (GEC) chaired by
 Jacqueline M.L. Stouthard, an OECI Board Elected Member.

Last chance to register for DIGICORE's Connect to Win annual symposium!

Connect to Win brings together DIGICORE members and prospective members to meet in person over two days and discuss the Grouping’s running activities and future challenges.

This year's edition is organised by the Fondazione Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori of Milan and will be kindly hosted by the Lombardy Region.

The event is organised in collaboration with the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori “Regina Elena” in Rome.
