PV Magazine Energy costs are the second largest expense for U.S. schools, according to the report Brighter Future: A Study on Solar in U.S. Schools by Generation 180, SEIA, and The Solar Foundation and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). One way to save is to go solar—and many schools are. In 2019 5.5% of all K-12 public and private schools in the U.S. had installed solar power, and it’s on the rise.
Utility Dive The City of Oakland will be the site of a vehicle-to-building pilot analyzing how zero-emission transit buses can maintain critical loads during emergency conditions. Funded by the California Energy Commission, the “powerhouse green energy project team” involves the city, AC Transit, the Center for Transportation and the Environment, The Mobility House, New Flyer, Schneider Electric, and the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project, or WOEIP.
NRDC - As the dust settles on this legislative session, it is clear that the state has made a significant down payment on Governor Newsom’s targets to deploy heat pumps and ensure that at least 7 million homes are climate-resilient by 2035. With the funds allocated in this year’s budget together with commitments in future year budgets, the state plans to invest over $1.4 billion to decarbonize California homes, schools, and community centers – with most of the funding directed towards low-income families and disadvantaged communities.
California Air Resources Board - A report published earlier this month by the California Air Resources Board, in consultation with the California Energy Commission, demonstrates the state’s nation-leading progress in cleaning up its school bus fleet. The 2022 SB-1403 School Bus Incentive Program Report shows California is charging ahead with zero-emission school buses and outlines a path for the latest nearly $2 billion investment.

Help Prospect SV Identify Projects in PG&E’s Service Area that Address Peak Demand and Increase Grid Stability
Prospect SV -
The PG&E Market Access Program (MAP) offers aggressive incentives for energy efficiency retrofit projects that reduce peak demand. The incentive is calculated on Total System Benefits, and is paid over the first year of operation to the aggregator - defined as anyone delivering the project such as the building owner, service provider, installer, or consultant.

ProspectSV is offering support to identify projects that can happen with the help of this incentive. They’re offering to co-host MAP Info Sessions for you and your local building community to get the word out. You can reach ProspectSV at marketaccess@prospectsv.org to schedule a special information session and/or to discuss any potential projects.
