The Public Defense Services Commission has voted to extend an offer to Jessica Kampfe as the new Executive Director of the Office of Public Defense Services.
We look forward to welcoming Ms. Kampfe as the new leader of the agency starting next month.
Jessica Kampfe is a career public defender, providing trial level advocacy for Oregon’s most vulnerable people since 2006. She has extensive management experience running public defender offices in Marion and Multnomah Counties. Ms. Kampfe also comes to us with experience advocating for criminal justice reform at the legislature. She has long worked collaboratively with criminal legal system stakeholders and community members at the county and statewide level to increase procedural justice and improve community safety. On a personal note, Ms. Kampfe was born in Brookline MA and attended the University of Vermont for undergrad, earning a BA in Sociology. Her desire to be a public defender drew her to law school at Lewis & Clark. She is also married to a defense attorney and the proud mom to a third grader.
We are confident that Ms. Kampfe will bring the needed public defense leadership experience to unite the public defense community and empower OPDS to meet community needs during this challenging time.
