Around Campus:

We are pleased to name NCAA winning, college basketball coaching legend, Paul Evans, Head Varsity Basketball Coach.
While coaching David Robinson of USA’s Olympic Basketball ‘Dream Team’, he turned the Naval Academy into a national powerhouse. While at Pitt, he led the team to a #2 ranking in the nation. Coach Evans has made seven NCAA tournament appearances with the University of Pittsburgh and Navy, including an Elite Eight appearance. He has had great success developing assistant coaches, including John Calapari (University of Kentucky), Todd Golden (University of Florida), and Sean Miller (University of Arizona).
Paul Evans coached college basketball for 21 seasons, building an incredible coaching success story. He accumulated 392 victories. He worked his way up from Division III St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., to the sport's top ranks. He has a history of running basketball programs in which players graduate and lead successful, productive lives.
As a college basketball coach, Evans earned the nickname "The Mad Doctor" from some of his players, not just from making players carry bricks or run arena steps wearing weighted jackets, but from his unconventional motivational tactics.
Farragut Varsity Basketball is the defending district champion. The Florida High School Athletic Association’s varsity basketball season begins November 1st.
Evans, a resident of Treasure Island, joins Admiral Farragut Academy as it celebrates its 90th anniversary of developing leaders.

Hurricane Ian:

Admiral Farragut Academy was very fortunate in our outcome from Hurricane Ian, having only downed tree branches, and a few minor damages.  We are very grateful for our family's flexibility, our staff's dedication, and the greater community's unwavering desire to help in the clean up and get the campus back to normal.
There is strength in numbers, and right after Hurricane Ian forced our school to close and prepare for the hurricane.   The Farragut community came together to help clean up our campus after the hurricane and we had over 40 volunteers from students to parents in the effort.
During the clean up I learned from a current parent that her daughter expressed, " We need to go and help clean up at Farragut to make sure we have school Monday!"
We have a strong Farragut community and know we are stronger working together.
We will continue to send an abundance of thoughts and prayers to our neighbors and families south of us as they continue to clean up, repair, and rebuild.

Elizabeth Metzger '06 with husband Curt Metzger at the Naval Air Station Pensacola for the Navy Ball. Looking good guys!

This painting holds a lot of meaning to members of the class of 1968, as it was painted by Chuck Koczwara's '68N sister, Christine, and it hung in the home of Coach Stan Slaby and Polly for years.
About 15 years ago it was passed down to David Yoho '68N and Annie's home.  David and Annie have given this special painting back to Chuck Koczwara but said it represented special moments and times shared with Coach and Polly in their home and needed to go back to Chuck Koczwara '68N.

Gil Wheelahan ‘84 (left) and David Llerena ‘87 (right). Gil was kind enough to loan David his chainsaws for the hurricane clean up at his house.

Fallon Arnold '14 entrepreneur,  successful realtor with Coldwell Banker in Tampa Bay, and world traveler.  We are so happy to congratulate Fallon on her engagement to Jose Fernandez.  Here's to all the happiness in their next journey together.
