“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”
~1 THESSALONIANS 5‌:16-18

As we shift to a season of Thanksgiving, many feel that this is the time to give thanks. As the scripture tells us, we should give thanks in all circumstances. This extends to "at all times". So while it is important to be reminded to give thanks in the season of Thanksgiving, let us also remember to give thanks to God in all we do. For all that we are and all that we have comes from God.

Be a Blessing,

"The Anxiety of Choosing"
Jonah 2‌:1-10, Acts 1‌:15-17, 21-26
Making a decision can feel like hammering the nails into the coffin of opportunities. We agonize over making the wrong decision. Whatever decision we make, we can never stray so far that we are beyond God’s redeeming grace.

Fellowship Time
On the second Su‌nday of each month, we have Fellowship Time immediately after the 9 A‌M Worship Service. It will be in Fellowship Hall and is a time of light refreshments and conversation; a time to catch up with each other and welcome visitors. The next Fellowship Time will be on Su‌nday, Novem‌ber 13. Please join us!

NOTE:
Fellowship Time is volunteer driven. There is a sign-up sheet outside of Fellowship Hall. Please use this sheet to indicate which Fellowship time you would like to host. Instructions are found on the sign-up sheet. Currently, we are doing Fellowship Time once a month. That means if we have 12 volunteers, then each person only has to host once a year. If interest is high enough, then we would also consider having Fellowship Time more frequently.
Thursday Bible Study
The Thu‌rsday morning bible study starts at 11‌:00 A‌M. It is held in Fellowship Hall and via Zoom. The Zoom link can be found in the church calendar on the church website.

Pastor Scott leads this bible study
, which is based on Nicky Gumbel's "Bible in One Year" reading plan. This study is designed to encourage you to read through the entire Bible in 20‌22. More detailed information about the "Bible in One Year" reading plan can be viewed HERE.
Sewing Fellowship Group
Barbara Wesolovski will be leading a fellowship group for people interested in sewing.

The group meets in Fellowship Hall every S‌aturday morning at 10a‌m. Exceptions to this schedule will be posted on the church calendar.

This will be time of fellowship and a chance for beginner sewers to improve their sewing skills. Sewing machines will be available during the meetings. If you have any questions, please call Barbara at 732-446-5639. Watch for a sign-up sheet on the table outside of Fellowship Hall.

NOTE: the sewing group will not meet on 11/‌19.
Worship Through Giving

We are thankful for your faithful support during these challenging times. Your generous giving has been vital in maintaining our ability to cover expenses and continue our church ministries. You may continue giving in-person at the indoor worship service, by sending your offering check directly to the church, or by using the church online giving feature found in the footer of the church website. It is easy, secure, and appreciated. --- Thank You

If so inspired, you may give online now, by clicking here.

PRAYER SHAWLS

During the worship service this past S‌unday, several Prayer Shawls were blessed in preparation for distribution to people in our faith community. This is part of our Prayer Shawl Ministry, and these shawls were made by members & friends of our congregation. They are given to people in need of comfort and as a reminder that they are in our thoughts and prayers. If you are aware of anyone who would appreciate a shawl, please give the information to Anita Chichester or Pastor Scott.

~ NOTE ~
Please let Pastor Scott know of any additions, removals, or status updates to this prayer list. Please place a completed prayer request card in the offering if you wish for the prayer request to appear in this list. Prayer requests will roll off the list after 4 weeks unless updated or renewed.

Food Pantry Ministry
The DeBows Food Pantry is open on the 2nd & 4th Mon‌day each month, 6‌-8pm. DeBows uses an "Appointment Only" system to distribute the food. To make an appointment, call 848-373-8844.

The next Food Pantry distribution is M‌onday, N‌ovember 14.

Please note: participants need to call for an appointment by 5‌:00p‌m on the S‌aturday prior to the scheduled food pantry day. This gives the Food Pantry volunteers time to prepare the food for distribution. "Thank You" for your cooperation.

Please contact Pastor Scott if you need further information or would like to volunteer to help with the Food Pantry ministry.
RaiseRight Gift Cards
NOTE: ShopWithScrip has been rebranded as RaiseRight. The concept and ordering process is exactly the same.

We will be placing a RaiseRight Gift Card order on Nov‌ember 13. All orders must be given to Sue Hayward by S‌unday, Nov‌ember 13. A check made out to "DeBows UMC" must be submitted with each order form to cover the full amount of the order.

A complete list of available gift cards & order forms will be available in the church narthex on S‌unday, Oct‌ober 30 and are also available below for download. You purchase the gift cards at face value and the church will realize a percentage profit based on the posted rebate rate for each card.

Please note: while you can purchase Shoprite or Stop & Shop grocery cards from RaiseRight, the church realizes a higher percentage rebate if the church purchases them directly from Shoprite or Stop & Shop. See Sue if you want to purchase Shoprite or Stop & Shop cards.

For more information or to place orders, you may contact Sue at 609-631-4306 or via email.

DeBows in Mission
As we approach the holiday season, we wish to highlight two mission activities, currently taking place at DeBows.

*** Operation Christmas Child
Now thru No‌vember 20

DeBows has started its mission campaign for Operation Christmas Child. It seems a little early to be thinking about Christmas, but please remember the items collected for this mission activity must be processed and delivered all around the world. You may pickup a shoe box and instructions at church on Sunday mornings.
Also, there is a bag of toys with the boxes in the front pew of the sanctuary that is for anyone who needs them to help fill their boxes. Help yourself!

Please return your filled shoe box to the church no later than Sun‌day, Novem‌ber 20. Gina Pezzino is coordinating this mission activity and will ensure the shoe boxes are delivered to the regional drop off location. National collection week is Nove‌mber 14–21, 2022. Click HERE for more detailed information about Operation Christmas Child.

*** Holiday Toy & Coat Drive
Now thru De‌cember 2

DeBows UMC is once again supporting The Children's Home Society of New Jersey by running an online mission event to raise toys & gifts for at risk children. These gifts may be the only ones they receive this holiday season.

You can participate in this mission activity by shopping online to support the drive, using the below link. This link is specific to DeBows UMC. After you shop online, you will receive an email from "YouGiveGoods" with your tax deductible receipt. All donations will be acknowledged as coming from DeBows and shipped at the close of the drive directly to The Children's Home Society of New Jersey. Click HERE for general information about the CHSofNJ.

The deadline to go online and donate gifts is Fr‌iday, De‌cember 2. Please use the below "Shop Now" link to participate.

Music Ministry

DeBows UMC is blessed with talented people who love to praise God. We pray for each other and give back to the Lord the blessings we’ve received. We welcome newcomers to join our music ministry and share and grow their talent for God’s glory. Please contact Grayce by email at music@debowsumc.org for any questions or to discuss opportunities to participate in our music ministry.

Chime Choir — Rehearses Su‌nday morning 8:‌30 to 8:‌45 A‌M and rings the introit to worship on Su‌nday morning (except on Revival Su‌nday). New members are always welcome. Ability to sight read music and prior experience not necessary. Ability to be present and have fun very important!

Praise Band — Rehearses Tuesday nights at 7:‌00 P‌M and plays a five-song set once a month for Revival Sunday, usually the last Sunday of the month. Check email and church calendar for exceptions. All instruments welcome.

* More information about the DeBows music ministry can be viewed here. Modification or cancellation of specific dates will be communicated by Grayce via email. Please check email for any cancellations before coming out.
