Dolphins, manatees and whales — Oh my!
When we think about our local marine ecosystems, fishes, reptiles, and even oysters, certainly grab a lot of attention. But marine mammals play an important role, too. By studying the health of marine wildlife, researchers can get a better understanding of the health of the ocean and coastal waterways like the Indian River Lagoon.
Catch up on past Coastal Lecture Series videos that delve into the fascinating world of marine mammals.

What's on our minds
The Clean Water Act: Fifty Years and Still Fighting

For 50 years, the Clean Water Act has protected our waterways and prevented billions of pounds of pollutants from entering our waters. Now, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments in a lawsuit brought by landowners in Idaho that could change which waterways are protected and alter clean water protections nationwide for years to come.

Protecting our waters is a community effort

Every two years, we have an opportunity to not only make our voices heard but make our vote count. By participating actively in electing our representatives, we serve to gain champions of our environment, including the precious coastal waters we all love to enjoy.

Here are three ways you can make your voice and your vote count
As a 501c3 Nonprofit, Florida Oceanographic cannot endorse candidates, however, we encourage all eligible Floridians to be informed voters. For those that are ineligible to vote, we encourage you to stay involved by volunteering and educating our elected officials.
