AGM and Town Hall
& October Update
SECA is building a neighbourly community
where residents feel a sense of belonging and community pride.

Town Hall Topics

1/ Does it feel like there is more theft, vandalism, and graffiti in our area?

Come to our AGM & Town Hall to hear from our Community Resource Officer, Constable Thorpe.

  • What are the crime stats?
  • What can residents do?
  • The importance of reporting incidents.
  • How to report incidents.
Bring your concerns and questions for Constable Thorpe.

Meeting info: https://www.facebook.com/events/858364552184916

2/ Capital Project: Let's transform some public spaces so everyone can thrive here.

What could we build in a park and/or along a pathway for children, teens, young adults, and older adults?

We'll provide some inspiring photos like these ones to get everyone thinking outside the box.

We're looking forward to collecting your ideas and feedback.
AGM Voting
  • Each member household receives one vote.
  • Become a member at the meeting - credit card, cash or cheque.
  • $20 for a 12 month rolling membership.
Join the Board
  • Email info@shawneeevergreen.ca for more info.
  • Nominations will also be accepted from the floor.
  • Due to a changed work situation, we are losing our Secretary. This role provides a wonderful introduction to SECA if you have that skill set.
  • Other open roles: Director at Large and Vice President.
Volunteer in a leadership role to learn more about the community, meet new people, contribute to the community, build your resume, learn new skills, and share your expertise. You'll feel a sense of accomplishment.

Remember our Community Campfires?

Working with MIllrise Community Association we are working to host one or two campfires with skating at their rink.

SECA has the equipment including two low-smoke fire pits. We'll also provide the supplies along with the City and Fire Department permits. We just need a bit of help from residents.

Email info@shawneeevergreen.ca to learn how easy it could be to bring a campfire to your neighbourhood greenspace.

Congratulations to Norm Rousseau!

Norm has received Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Medal.

The medals are awarded to Albertans in recognition of their significant contributions to the province.

Norm is the kind of guy that you can always count on. No doubt that's why he was selected for this prestigious award.

He has been a long-time SECA Board member and having worked for over 30 years in real estate, he is our Director of Development. He liaises with the City Planning department and other agencies about roads, development applications, and more. He is also the Grill Master at our Stampede event. And we are just one of several organizations that Norm supports.
