The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility has launched its 2022 annual customer satisfaction survey.
The yearly survey allows residents, suppliers, visitors and Councillors, and anyone with an interest, an opportunity to provide feedback on their experience of the Facility, as well as communications from the Facility and its employees. The survey can be completed online or a paper copy is also available for download. The survey is due to close on 3rd November 2022.
Back in the summer, the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility announced that its 2022 planned maintenance outage would take place from Saturday 13th August and would last around two weeks. Over this period, the mechanical process was shut down and regular day-to-day operations ceased, including visits to the site.
The yearly outage allows for the inspection, maintenance and cleaning of equipment at the Facility, ensuring that ongoing operations continue to run efficiently and in accordance with the environmental requirements defined by the Environment Agency.
Following the completion of the outage, operations have returned to normal including commercial waste deliveries and general tours.
The Facility has published the emissions monitoring results for operational activity during September 2022.
The emission limits included within the Facility's Environmental Permit were set by the Environment Agency and reflect those defined within the Industrial Emissions Directive.
The graph shows the level of permissible emissions according to the Environmental Permit, illustrated by the orange line. The actual emissions produced by the Facility are shown in green as a percentage average output over the month. For this month, as with all months before, emissions produced are below the permitted limit set out in the Facility's Permit.
The website is updated every month with the previous month's emissions performance. For previous emissions data, please see the historical emissions data page.
As well as the emissions monitoring results, the Facility also monitors the performance data. The results for September 2022, and all previous months since the Facility became operational, are now available, including:
All waste treated (tonnes) - This is the total amount of waste that is brought to the Facility each month for treatment.
Materials recovered for recycling (tonnes)- This is the amount of materials that are recovered for recycling each month at the Facility.
Electricity (megawatt-hours/ MWh)- This is the total amount of electricity that is sent to the National Grid each month.
The Waste Wizard has been launched by Gloucestershire Resources and Waste Partnership, which is made up of Gloucestershire County Council and the district councils, to mark Recycle Week 2022.
This interactive online tool will allow anyone puzzled by recycling and waste to type in the name of any item along with their postcode to find out whether it can be reused, repaired, donated or recycled, or if it needs to go into a specific bin or collection.
It will help to encourage sustainability and increase the amount of items that are recycled correctly at the kerbside, by giving residents clear answers about what goes where in their recycling bins.
The Waste Wizard aims to clarify what items can be recycled and where they go – or if they can be given a new life through repair and reuse. It aims to: • Increase the number of items that are repaired, reused, and donated • Ensure anything that can’t be reused, repaired, or donated is properly recycled • Explain the most sustainable way to dispose of goods that cannot be recycled or reused
