40 Days of Engagement on Anti-Racism: Continue the journey towards becoming an anti-racist church with this 40-day time of learning, reflection, and action. The 40 Days of Engagement on Anti-Racism is relaunching this year with brand-new content! The program will run from Tuesday, October 11 to Friday, November 25, 2022. New stories will be offered daily (with the exceptions of Sundays). Fall Meeting Registration: Thank you to all who have registered thus far, we are looking forward to gathering together. Just a reminder that the "In-Person" registration will close as of midnight on Sunday, October 23rd to allow time for meeting preparation. You can find the meeting invitation and registration form on our website at Fall Business Meeting - East Central Ontario Regional Council of the United Church of Canada (ecorcuccan.ca) See you soon!

Last Information Session before our Fall Meeting: The Ministry through Property Team will be sharing the draft budget on Tuesday, Oct 25th at 7pm. Learn how the budget is created and the activities it will support. These info sessions are not limited to voting delegates of the Regional Council. Please register HERE. Stewardship News
Called To Be the Church: The Journey is a holistic stewardship program that offers Communities of faith, teaching around stewardship best practices and involves one-on-one coaching, as well as a customized in-depth Stewardship Analysis Report with specific recommendations for next steps. Family News:
Marlene Whiston: June 25, 1934 - October 10, 2022 (88 years old)

Marlene was the minister at Alderville United Church from 2006 until March 2013. Marlene was a good and faithful servant of our Lord and will be remembered with joy and laughter. She was 88 years old. Our prayers and sympathy are extended to all her family and friends especially to her husband Reverend David Whiston and her children and grandchildren. If you wish to write to Marlene’s family, the address is her daughter’s: Julianna Frigira 736 rue Desnoyers, Montreal, Quebec H4C 3E2. I have had many conversations with Julianna regarding Marlene’s service. Marlene’s family are having the Celebration of Life service for her at our church. Please note the information below so you can put the date in your calendar.
  • The Celebration of Life for the Reverend Marlene Whiston is at Alderville United Church Friday, December 2nd at 2:00 p.m. There is a reception at the community centre 3:00-5:00 p.m. If you are unable to come to the service at the church and want to pay your respects to Marlene’s family, please feel free to come to the reception at the community centre. HUGHES, The Reverend Elwyn Hughes: Jan 14, 1930 - Oct 9, 2022 
Passed away on Sunday October 9, 2022, at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Louise and the late Janet. Loving father of Diane, Rhiannon (Brandy), Gwyneth (Colin), Brian (Darlene), Alan (Erica) and predeceased by Robert. Lovingly remembered by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the Durham Region Cancer Clinic would be appreciated. ECORC’s Indigenous Justice and Respectful Relationships forum is hosting a movie night at Mark Street United Church in Peterborough on Friday, October 28th at 7pm – “Front Runners” is a play about the 1967 pan AM games and some Indigenous boys who carried the torch. This Play is an opportunity to learn more of Canada’s truth in hopes of living into reconciliation. Discussion to follow. Fenelon Falls United Church will celebrate its 162nd Anniversary on Sunday, October 23rd. Rev. Kathi Phillips (who was an intern here in 2000) will lead our service and celebrate Holy Communion. We will have a reception after our service. Thanks be to God!
