Monday Morning News.

November 14, 2022
Greetings Friends,
Second Corinthians 4:18 says "we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen." The early snow has blanketed the region and the other day the fog was so thick as to be almost disorienting. I looked up towards the sky but  saw only opaque white. I looked across the fields to the mountains and saw more impenetrable white. I looked down and nearly everything was covered in the white of snow.
white out fog and snow
Though my eyes were open, and even though I believe myself to have good eyesight, nevertheless I couldn't see. No amount of straining my eyes or turning on bright lights would have resulted in anything different.
When the "things that are seen" are taken away, then we are given time to consider the "things that are unseen." The trouble is, those moments are rare these days. There is always something else to look at - and usually it has a screen and is mounted on the wall, sitting on the table, or tucked in our pockets. I try to be thankful for those times when there's nothing to look at and I'm forced to just sit with the reality that it is all still there - I just can't see it.

Peace,

Pastor Noah

Stewardship Season at Polson

Stewardship of our resources is a vital call to discipleship which Christ issues to each believer. The gifts and talents which are entrusted to us are just that: a trust. It is out of that trust that we are able to live as generous people, opening up our lives and all that we have to the work of the Spirit. When we give our tithes, we are giving to God through the church.

In every season, we are called to be faithful stewards. In this particular season, the church gives an opportunity for each of us to evaluate our giving and make fresh commitments of our resources. Pledge cards have been placed in the pews at the Polson Church and are available through the church office as well. By making a pledge of your commitment, you create a tangible goal for yourself and you also give the session a better picture of how we can steward the resources entrusted to us.

We hope that this season of stewardship gives you an opportunity for both reflection and recommitment as a disciple to Jesus Christ. If the pledge cards are a useful tool for you in that process, please consider filling one out and returning it either in the offering plate or directly to the church office. Pledge cards will be in the pews through Sunday, November 20 and we ask that all cards be returned to the church office by Wednesday, November 23.
Mission Opportunity

The Polson Church will have an opportunity to be present again this year at the Parade of Lights on December 2nd. We will set up a table downtown and hand out treats to those attending.
Last year we were next to the Catholic Church which provides chili and cornbread. This year our church will provide bags of Chex Mix. We will start at 5:00 PM and should be finished no later than 7:30 PM.

Help will be needed with the following projects:
  • Ingredients for the Chex Mix
  • Making and bagging of the treats on Nov. 30th (hoping that the youth can meet at the church for this)
  • Set up on Dec. 2nd
  • Attending the table downtown and handing out treats
  • Clean Up after the parade or when we run out

There is a sign-up sheet in the Fellowship Hall. Any questions, please call Tricia.

The weekly Bible Study led by Pastor Noah is at both churches. The Bible Study at Dayton is on Tuesdays at 10am and at Polson is on Wednesdays at 10am.

The current round of study is focused on equipping you for your own personal study of Scripture. We are looking at inductive Bible study, Lectio Divina, Thematic approaches to study, and study focused on a character or word. After learning the techniques, we will practice our skills on a few passages of Scripture. Bring your Bible and come along!
