2022 Holiday Road Map
Never Miss a Holiday Event at First Parish

Hi everyone, and welcome to the holiday season here at First Parish! As some of you know, the holidays are by far my favorite time of year, and once again, I am so excited about all the amazing events we have happening. As always, all of our events are for all ages, so please know that everyone is always invited and welcome! That being said, if anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out, my email is dre@firstparishtaunton.org ~ April

Christmas Float Decorating

All are welcome to join us on Friday, November 11, at 6 PM in the Chalice Children's Room at church to begin working on our North Pole Float decorations for the annual city Christmas Parade.

Thanksgiving Potluck Brunch

All are welcome to join us on Sunday, November 20,  for our annual Thanksgiving Potluck Brunch immediately after service (11 AM). Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us and bring a dish to share.

Third Annual Holiday Bazaar

Our third annual Holiday Bazaar goes live online on November 25 at 9 AM (more details to come in a separate email). This is a friend-to-friend sale where church members donated items for the shop, and other members purchase them. Items sold will be dropped off at church Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 -Noon to be wrapped and packaged. Folks can then pick up their items Sunday, December 18, after service

Holiday Ornament Paint and Sip Fundraiser
(suggested for adults and youth 10+)

Join us Friday night, December 9, from 7-9 PM for a super fun Ornament Paint and Sip night. Everyone will get to follow along with a tutorial and paint 2 wooden ornaments. We will provide all the materials - paint, brushes, and ornaments (however, as always, people are welcome to bring their own materials) as well as snacks, wine, and cider. Tickets are $30 per adult and $15 per youth. We will also have childcare available for kids under 10. Kids attending childcare will have a blast watching a holiday movie and making pipe cleaner & popsicle stick ornaments.

Christmas Parade!

All are welcome to join us Sunday, December 4 (time and parking location TBD) as we once again march in the Taunton Christmas Parade. The parade theme this year is Christmas Around the World, we will have a North Pole Float, and folks (kids, youth, and adults) are encouraged to dress as elves, snowmen, reindeer, candy canes, or Christmas Trees (we are not allowed to dress as Santa), As always we will be handing out candy to the crowd so if anyone would like to donate some it would be most appreciated.

All Ages Christmas No-Rehearsal Pageant - Rehearsal

Our no-rehearsal pageant is great because everyone can participate right from their seats and without having to learn any lines. That being said, we always have a few folks who like to dress up and really act out a part. If this sounds like something you or your kids might enjoy, please join me Sunday, Dec. 11, after service for a quick run-through of the story and part selection. Anyone who wants to participate in a costume part may wear their costumes to church the following Sunday. We encourage people to make their costumes from things they already have at home, no need to buy anything.

All Ages Christmas Pageant and Santa Service
This year on Sunday, December 18, during service, we will be performing an interactive, no-rehearsal (one rehearsal for anyone who wants a dress-up part) Holiday Pageant: A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
The wonderful advantage of this type of pageant is that EVERYONE can participate: kids, youth, and adults alike, as there are no lines to memorize!!

Here's How It Works: on Sunday morning, as people arrive for service, I will hand out props and a copy of the story to all those who want to participate. As I tell the story, participants will hold up and/or stand up with their props and/or act their parts out.

Outdoor Winter Solstice Service

All are invited to join us Wednesday, December 21, at 6 PM for our Winter Solstice Service. In the spirit of the darkest night of the year, we will be gathering outdoors for a solstice celebration with bonfires and candles. Come and join us for this earth-centered ritual where we will be able to connect with the world around us.

Christmas Eve Service

"There is something magical about a sanctuary by candlelight…..”
All are welcome and invited to join us Saturday, December 24 (time TBD) for our Candlelight Christmas Eve Service filled with music, inspiration, and the holiday spirit. Children are welcome to the service, and childcare for small children is also provided. Merry Christmas!
