Mile Hi Veterans,
It gives me immense pleasure to announce that the MHV Education Committee has a new Chair for 2023. BJ Brooks has graciously accepted her appointment as Chair of the MHV Education Committee. I believe she will lead us into the future in an exciting way.
It has been my pleasure to work with such a high caliber of individuals who are committed to the education of Veterans and our students. It is time to focus more of my time to my personal life, but I know that the committee will continue to do magnificent work. I want to thank our Commander and the Membership for their support and generosity. Without you it would not have been successful.
Thank you for your dedication and continued support for the education of our Veterans and our present and future scholarship recipients.
Sincerely,
Betty L. C.de Baca

Mile Hi Veterans,
I’m honored to accept the Education Committee chairperson appointment and thank Commander, Jake Fernandez, for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am also grateful to Betty C. de Baca for her leadership on the committee over the past 3 years. It’s been a pleasure working with her. I’ve learned a lot about MHV because of my volunteerism on the committee, especially working with the kind, committed, intelligent, hardworking members of the committee. My family and I truly enjoy the friendships we’ve made at the Club.
I look forward to next year’s planned events and commit my time for the benefit of MHV, their families and the community.
With respect,
B.J. Avila-Brooks

Members,
I received the following email from Mark Schaefer.
I am getting a theater to show the movie “Devotion” to Korean War vets on Friday, November 25th at 2:30 PM. It is based on a true story that happened during the “forgotten war.”
The time is tentative at the moment, but I should have it confirmed Tuesday. The trailer for the movie has been on TV so, many may have seen it. The movie debut is November 23rd so I’m hoping they don’t see it before we have a chance to see it with them. We are showing the movie at the AMC Theater in the Chapel Hills Mall in northern Colorado Springs.
If you are interested, please contact Linda Romero to RSVP (303-204-5448).
Mark Schaefer
I'm sure you remember, Mark was the gentleman who brought his "war books" for all our Veterans to sign at our Memories of Vietnam War performance last month.
