Our High Holiday celebrations turned out to be a welcome in-person community event for those who were able to attend. Special thanks to Marcia Gumpertz for organizing all three events and to Dan Zachary for providing the music. Thank you to Scott Randell for the Yom Kippur message and again to Marcia for the Rosh Hashanah message. Thank you to Burt and Renee Rauch, Judith Gamboa, Liam Century, Karen Century, Allen Marine, Lynne Kane, Paul Bogas and Valerie Brown for your participation.
Some nonmember attendees asked what else we do. The Board has considered this question and decided that we will actively:
- Provide celebrations around the High Holidays, Chanukah, and Passover, provided there is sufficient interest.
- Work to reestablish the Sunday School and B’Nai Mitzvah programs. Judith Gamboa is leading this effort. If you missed the interest meeting held on October 19, you can contact Judith at jfrei81@gmail.com.
- Support members that want to start a new initiative by publicizing it, consulting, and supplying funding as appropriate and as approved by the Board. For example, Tovah Wax is interested in a Chavurah and is organizing it for January.
- Function as a clearinghouse for information and news about general Jewish events in the Triangle or Humanistic Jewish events nationally. Occasionally we will sign on as a sponsor for events coordinated by Jewish for Good.
Remember, Kol Haskalah is a DIY congregation and we need you to volunteer to make these initiatives happen. Thank you!
