OPIRG York Announcements

Dark brown text on white background. November 8 , 2:30-430pm Snacks & drinks provided. free registration. Curving title over and below the image: Airing York’s Dirty Laundry/ A rad walking tour of york university. At the bottom of the poster it reads: Gather at 2:15pm, YorkU subway, North exit Keele campus/ Questions or access needs? Email: jessvort@yorku.ca// the OPIRG York logo is in the bottom right with a hammer. At the centre is an image of two people walking together: a brown femme with a long burgundy trench coat, bushy brown hair, and carrying a takeout coffee; and an orange person with a suave thin moustache wearing a green blazer, black shirt, and brown pants. They walk together through a grassy field with a large sun setting behind them. They are in the midst of taking the rad walking tour of YorkU, and are discussing some of the themes of the tour (each in a golden orb of thought/speech), including: workers' rights, food justice, suppression of Palestinian liberation, housing justice, campus privitization, muzzling student organizing, built on stolen Indigenous land, corporate influence, mining industry pay-outs, dirty investments.

Toronto has never been wealthier, yet at the same time, it has never been more unaffordable. This is most evident in the rising cost of housing. We as York University students must mobilize for housing justice both within and beyond our campus!

Join OPIRG York's new Action Group - we'll be crowd-sourcing names - and help us build a strong and united campaign for housing justice
alongside our community partners and allied campus groups.

At this first meeting, we will form our new collective and set our campaign goals and strategy for the next year.

Tell the Ford Conservatives: Don't Be a Bully

Find a local picket and sign the petition here.

Unions are in crisis. The Ford Conservatives are using legislation to impede workers’ right to free and fair collective bargaining.

The use of the Notwithstanding Clause to pass Back-to-Work legislation, is an attack on all workers in Ontario. If he gets away with it, all other workers will face the same threat: contracts imposed by law instead of collective bargaining.

Show your solidarity for striking CUPE Ontario Education Workers.
