Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Assalamu 'alaykum.

This past month, Unity Academy of Chicago celebrated the birth of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (s). Ms. Saba's students created illustrated timelines of the Prophet's life. Ms. Shaheen's students worked with artifacts that related to the Prophet's sunnah or pattern of living. All the children joined together for a meal in which they tried their best to follow the manners of our dear Prophet. Please watch this brief video for a glimpse into our celebration.

We pray that our children and community can follow in the footsteps of the Beloved of Allah (s).

Parenting Workshop

Sr. Suzann Audi holds an MS degree in Food Chemistry and is a valued member of our community. We are grateful that Sr. Suzann Audi could conduct a workshop for parents about Fostering Children’s Healthful Relationship with Food. She reminded us that food and eating should not be a cause of stress. Sr. Suzann pointed out that parents must enable children to be independent in their eating habits. Jafar is composting food waste as part of our effort to show gratitude for the blessings of food.

Fundraising for Pakistan Flood Relief

The Unity Academy of Chicago community raised $5000 towards the flood relief efforts of Baitulilm. These funds included over $100 that children collected in their classroom sadaqah jar. Lower Elementary children engaged in a writing lesson about the parts of a friendly letter. Their letters show concern, sympathy and solidarity towards the flood victims. These heartfelt letters were delivered to Shaykh Faezi to convey to the flood affected families of Kot Dijji.
