 Update on Great Salt Lake

Thanks to active support from so many people in our district, I have been able to focus on critical issues rather than our campaign.

This week alone I met with the Director of Fire, Forest and State Lands (one of my heroes), a top water attorney, and attended a Utah State University meeting regarding Great Salt Lake.  The problems and solutions for the lake are complex and require years of concerted work from all of us.  I'm delighted that the public is committed and conserving water.  I am engaged to find solutions for hyper-salinity, protecting the exposed lakebed, and other concerns.

Housing

For many of us, the first time we live on our own as adults, we are renters.  As a military family, we rented for 15 years in various states.
One of several reports finds Utah with some of the most punitive policies in the nation for renters, which is unacceptable at a time of extremely high costs for rents and purchases of homes.  I continue to attend workshops on housing and to meet with people affected by these polices, as described in this article.

Mail in Your Ballot!

Please vote to keep me in office and at work on these and other critical topics, like equal pay for women!  This year, I'm the sponsor of a bill to create a standalone equal pay law for state employees.  We'll be the 44th state to create this policy, which has great potential to pull us out of the 50th place ranking for women.

Excellent candidates, like Suzanne Harrison, have lost by as few as three votes!  If you haven't voted yet, please do so today!
