Hello JWB Families,
Welcome! My name is Stephanie Nystrom, and I am the president of the JWB PTO. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your interest in the PTO, and for joining up this year! As you may know, the PTO does quite a lot in our local schools. Granted, at the middle school level, different organizations, activities, and clubs start to play a larger role in your student's life; but the PTO remains committed to enhancing the opportunities and experiences for ALL Bailey students, and to foster relationships between the school and our families.
The largest line item on our budget is field trip support. As the pandemic wanes, our students and teachers are SO EXCITED to take field trips again! However, the national bus driver shortage and the rising costs of fuel have made this much more expensive than it has been in past years.
We also help support assemblies in the school, and offer special experiences to our 8th graders each year. Please see our budget for this school year below -- we plan to offer nearly $11,000 in support to our school and students.
How do we accomplish this? Through fundraising! And we need your help!
The simplest thing you can do is to join the PTO, and encourage others to do so (please forward this email widely!) If every student's family joined at the family rate, that would be $11,000 right there. If you are hesitant about joining, DON'T BE! While we would love to see you at a meeting or have you help out at events and activities, simply joining the PTO provides financial support and is much appreciated.
Other easy ways to help the PTO are to use Amazon Smile, shop at Hannaford and put your receipts in the JWB box, and to scan your Box Tops.
Amazon Smile is just like regular Amazon -- just simply go to smile.amazon.com, rather than "regular" amazon, sign in to your account, and designate the PTO as your beneficiary. Amazon will then donate a portion of the money it receives from your shopping to the PTO. Easy peasy!
Be on the lookout for upcoming restaurant fundraisers -- we are hoping to offer one every month. So it's a nice excuse to NOT cook dinner, and help the PTO at the same time.
We are also hoping to offer a family-friendly Mud Run in the spring (stay tuned for more details), and we have two more JWB Skate Nights coming up as well. In addition, any Bailey swag you purchase through Rokkitwear sends a donation to the PTO.
If there is an event or fundraising idea you'd like to share, we'd love to hear it; and we hope to see you at a meeting or event soon if we haven't already. The PTO is a totally awesome group of parents and teachers who love and support our kids. Thank you for all that you do!
