“The water of time glistens on the riverbed of the universe.  Though theirs is a much slower flow, stones, trees, houses, and towns are flowing too.” - Aoyama Roshi (Zen Seeds)

Dear [FIRST NAME],

The seeds of Zen are abundant in the Midwest right now.  We need your help with their planting.

While Zen Fields has been active since 2014, in November 2021 we became a 501(c)3 non-profit religious organization.  This allows for those who donate to claim a tax deduction.

Your donations have supported offerings such as daily meditation, yoga, Dharma talks, guest teacher funds, potlucks, web design, Zen supplies, donations to shared spaces like Pure Land and Quaker meeting, and others. In 2021 we added a scholarship fund for Haitian secondary and post-secondary students. This year, we provided scholarships to school fees for Ricardo Annis and Sherline Jeudi. Both are doing well!

We are in many ways blessed not to have the expenses that come with owning or renting our own property.  In addition to the above ongoing expenses, though, we need to ensure our continued financial stability and to think about future generations and needs.

We would like to be able to:

  • Hire a consultant to work on publicity strategies, including social media.
  • Create a fund for guest teachers.
  • Create a fund for future new teachers (long-term).

Zen is a vital practice in uncertain times. Together, we can learn to listen deeply, embrace the present moment, and open our hearts for the benefit of those around us.

When Daishin and Jisho came to Iowa in 2014, they decided they would not start a Zen Center unless there was an expressed need by the community.  You all came forward either indirectly, by attending our offerings, or directly by sitting on the Board and communicated your desire.  Here we are thanks to all of you, in the middle of a Field of Zen.

We presently have a funding pool to stimulate giving.  Your gift will be doubled up to $2100.  This fundraiser ends on Giving Tuesday, November 29th. Please offer what you can today.
