Together, we can all "Shine a Light"on preventing
serious childhood injury.
Dear HIPRC Colleagues,
This year, HIPRC has partnered with Public Health of Seattle and King County (kingcounty.gov), Seattle Children’s (seattlechildrens.org), SplashForward (splashforward.org) and Amazon (aboutamazon.com/impact/community) to “Shine a Light”on preventing serious childhood injury by supporting local youth drowning prevention initiatives throughout South King County and South Seattle.
Join our FREE Student Lifeguard Workshop!
On November 15, 2022, HIPRC and its community partners will host a FREE (Virtual) Student Lifeguard Workshop for high school students in South King County and South Seattle.
The virtual workshop will be led by a local panel of experts featuring aquatic facility managers, in addition to student lifeguards who will share their experiences in becoming lifeguards and what it is like to be a lifeguard.
The goal of the workshop is to INCREASE the number of lifeguards at pools and beaches across South King County and South Seattle.
Seattle Mayor, Bruce Harrell and King County Executive Board member, Dow Constantine recognized the importance of our community partnerships and efforts by signing proclamations for South King County and South Seattle. By joining us in this community-wide effort, you will stand among a leading force of hospitals and institutions across the nation that make up the Injury Free Coalition for Kids.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Alexandra de Leon, HIPRC Senior Public Information Specialist at hiprccom@uw.edu or simply reply to this email. For more information: Visit hiprc.org/nipd-drowning.

The ICRC network is funded by the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control to find ways to prevent injury and violence. HIPRC is the only ICRC in the western half of the United States.
