 Dear Centennial Crew,

We are so thrilled and in awe of the overwhelming support we received for our new Fall fundraiser, Raise Craze! A huge thank you to our wonderful school community, our family & friends (near & far), and our fellow Denver neighbors for their generosity! We raised $45,525 in just three short weeks, and completed nearly 1,700 acts-of-kindness for our Denver communities! Please check out this heartwarming 2-minute video that recaps everything we accomplished as a Crew! Plus, if you missed the "Sliming Celebration", now is your chance to witness it (or re-live it)! We can't wait to do it again next Fall!

The lost and found rack outside of the cafeteria is overflowing.  If your student is missing any items, please remind them to take a look in the lost and found.  It is also super helpful if students’ names are written in all their clothing- especially jackets so we can easily return them when found.   All unclaimed items will be removed and donated on November 17th.

We hope to see you all at our Family Night on Wednesday, November 30th, to celebrate Indigenous Heritage Month.  We will have a potluck from 5:30-6 and a performance and an opportunity to participate in a Round dance with our guests, Haleakala Brown and her dad Nick Ohitika Najin from 6:00-7:00 pm.  See below for more details.

Don’t forget that there is no school for students on Friday, November 18th.

Children’s Hospital Colorado is seeing a record high and an unprecedented number of cases and hospitalizations due to RSV, with a test positivity rate over 40%. Additionally, we are starting to see a rise in the number of specimens testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and influenza A in Denver. This respiratory season is incredibly early and may be a severe respiratory season. Good infection control measures are critically important, including vaccination for SARS-CoV-2 and influenza, good hand and cough hygiene, staying home from work and school when ill, and masking in crowded indoor spaces. This is particularly important to consider involving interactions with young children and people with chronic respiratory conditions like asthma who are at highest risk for severe disease and/or symptoms with RSV.
From the Library...

One Book, One Centennial
To kick off Indigenous Heritage Month, last week crews received a copy of the book Fry Bread by Kevin Maillard.  We are excited that One Book, One Centennial will go into December given that November is such a short month.

Here is a resource link that includes a video of Kevin Maillard reading the book along with some conversation starters for all ages.

Questions you might talk about as a family at dinner, or when you have time after reading the book:
How does food help tell the history of people?  What is a story about your family that involves food?

Denver Public Library has amazing resources to support Indigenous Heritage Month.  See the flyer below about an event this Saturday at Smiley Library.  They also have a variety of books by Indigenous authors.

If you are interested in purchasing a copy of Fry Bread for your family the
BookBar will have them available for 10% off when you mention Centennial,  or you can check one out from Denver Public Library.
