Dear friends of Investigate Midwest,

Last week we told you why we are here at Investigate  Midwest. Our message: This organization provides accountability reporting on topics important to our communities, including our food supply, our health and our environment.

This week, we'll go a step further: why our reporting matters to YOU — from political donations to chemicals on your dog or cat's collar. We are asking for your vote on this Election Day. Here's why:
  • First, we know elections matter: The reporting we bring to you matters because we want to inform you, as voters, as you head to the polls today. That's why we looked at how Big Ag corporations are supporting candidates with political donations in this Nov. 3 story by two of our reporters, Sky Chadde and Monica Cordero.
  • Next, we know social and health issues matter to you: the reporting we brought you this summer matters, from how Big Ag companies treat workers and the environment to how they stayed quiet after the U.S. Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade.
  • And we know your family members, including the furry ones, matter: Reporter Johnathan Hettinger reported Monday on how a popular brand of flea and tick collars has had a rising number of reports to the EPA.

You are more knowledgeable and safer, thanks to our reporters. In turn, you can impact the world with informed voting. Our work matters to keep you up to date before, on and after Election Day.

You vote for our work with your dollars.
I vote YES for Investigate Midwest!
Our end-of-year giving campaign, NewsMatch 2022, is off and running. This program, supported by groups like the Knight Foundation, doubles your donation.

Here's more: Now through December 31, NewsMatch will match any new monthly donations 12 times, so $10 a month becomes $20 a month. NewsMatch will also double any new one-time gifts, all up to $1,000.

Thank you for your vote, what you give today or any time during this campaign (or beyond).

With gratitude,

Mary Ungs-Sogaard, Donor Relations Manager

P.S. Don't forget, please help us spread the word. Sharing this with your friends and colleagues would assist our cause — independent, nonprofit accountability journalism.
