News from the Nest
News From the Nest
Families,
Wow! What a busy few weeks we have had! Thank you for your participation from Red Ribbon Week, to the Fall Festival, to Dia de los Muertos yesterday. See below for a few photos of the last several days. We love seeing our school community all together!
As you plan for next week, please remember that students do not have school on Tuesday, November 9 for Election Day. In addition, the MAP testing window opens tomorrow. Students will not be testing every day, but a few days over the overall testing window. The best way to support your child at home is to make sure they get plenty of sleep and a good breakfast throughout the testing window.
I hope you all have a great rest of the week and weekend!
-Shavaun Mincey, Principal

Walker Gate Access Code
If you walk to school and use the gate on Harry Brooks Drive, please complete the form HERE to receive the access code. We will have the gate open this afternoon and tomorrow, but beginning Monday, November 7 you must have the access code to enter and exit the playground.
Donuts With Grown Ups
Please join our Instructional Coaches, Ms. Small and Mr. White, for Donuts with Grown Ups. We will meet in the cafeteria, and we encourage you and your child to attend! As we enter the season of thankfulness, we want to provide in-school experiences for your family that are fun and meaningful but also provide academic support. This school year, writing is a primary focus for Bolton, and we plan to share some information on how you can support writing at home with your child.
We will have two sessions. Each session begins at 7:30 a.m.
- Tuesday, November 15: 3rd-5th Grade
- Wednesday, November 16: Pre-K-2nd Grade
You are also welcomed to stop by the Book Fair to shop after you have had your donuts and coffee. We kindly ask that you make your selections and then send your child to class so they can begin their day!
Please take a minute to let us know if you plan to attend by completing this form HERE.
School Pictures & Retake Day
If you ordered school photos, your pictures will be coming home today! Every student will receive a sheet to be able to purchase additional print and products online. You can use your unique access code and select "Late Picture Orders" to review your options.
Please see below for more information on the three categories for Retake Day on Thursday, November 10.
Fall Festival Thanks!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, and came out to the Fall Festival on Saturday. The rain held off, and a good time was had by all!
Eden Snider in Ms. Fowler's class was the winner of the "Guess How Many" game and won the jar of Starbursts. Scarlett Nash was the winner of the "Guess Who" game and she won a $10 Chick-fil-A gift card.
A special thank you to our sponsors and vendors who helped to make the event a success:
Answer the Bell (Ice Cream and Funnel Cakes)
Atlanta Fire Station 28
C. Magic Happen Entertainment
DJ Partywidme
Something Else Catering Co.
The Velvet Bar
Westside Table Church
We are also thrilled to share that we raised over $600 to love on our Support Teachers and Staff. We are getting closer to our goal and are grateful for your donations. If you still want to help the PTA love on our Support Teachers and Staff, you can donate HERE via PayPal or HERE via Venmo.
Media Center News
Click HERE for some recent information from Ms. Johnson and for more details on the Book Fair! The Book Fair will be from Monday, November 14 - Friday, November 18.
Car Riders
In the morning, please remember to pull up to an adult before letting your child exit the car. Since it is darker in the morning, we need to make sure we can see every child and get them safely into the building. Also please note that the back car rider lane ends at 7:45 a.m. If you are not in line by then, you will need to pull up front and walk your child in.
Nutrition - Action Needed
All students will be required to pay for their meals either through My School Bucks or by being approved for free or reduced lunch. If a student asks to go through the school meal line, we are required to serve them a meal regardless if they have a payment plan set up. It is very important to discuss with your child if they plan to eat school breakfast and/or lunch so you are not surprised by unexpected meal charges.
My School Bucks Account
Please click HERE to see how you set up an account to pay for your meals.
Free or Reduced Lunch Application
Please click HERE to complete a free or reduced lunch application. If you need help completing the online form, you can call the front office or email Melanie Haley.
Class Dojo Prizes
We are excited to announce Bolton has started a new initiative for Class Dojo. Students have an opportunity to use their Dojo points to earn prizes. We are using school funds to purchase several items, but linked HERE you will find an Amazon Wish List with some specific items students have requested. Your donation will be greatly appreciated!
