Dear PVUMC Family,
“The next day he (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world’" (John 1: 29).
John the Baptist recognized Jesus as the Lamb of God. In Israel, lamb was used for the purpose of being sacrificed in order to atone for someone’s sin. The Lamb of God means that Jesus was destined to be killed as the sacrifice for the atonement for people’s sins. He came to us to die for us. It was God’s purpose to send His only Son, Jesus Christ to die for all of us, and it has become the Good News for everyone who believes in Jesus Christ, because through his death and resurrection, eternal life in God’s kingdom has been given to us. Jesus Christ took every sin away from us through death on the cross, and with faith in Jesus Christ, we have received the eternal life. Amen.
This coming Sunday will be the first Sunday of November. We will have the Holy Communion. Please attend our Sunday Worship Service, so that you will take the body and the blood of Jesus Christ. As it is the first Sunday of the month, we are collecting foods for the Food-Drive Ministry. This month, we will do two tracks of Food-Drive Ministry. First, you can bring foods for our regular Food-Drive Ministry and drop them in the box located in Narthex. Second, we are collecting special foods for “Thanksgiving Holiday Food Assistance.” The list is below.
Canned Vegetables (Corn, Peas, mixed veg), Potatoes - Instant (box), Canned fruit, Chicken Broth (Can or Box), Rice (1 lb bag), Brownie/Cake Mix (Choose 1), Frosting for Cake Mix (not needed for Brownies), Sugar (4 lb bag), Oil (48 oz or less), Flour (2 lb bag), and Juice (plastic bottle only). We are collecting those items until November 13th. If you have any questions, please contact our office or Pam Graham (Mission Committee Chair).
We are invited to join a special pancake breakfast this coming Sunday by our scout troop. The breakfast will start at 10AM on Sunday, so you can come to church at 10AM to have breakfast in the church. If you need more information, please contact Bob Highley or the church office.
