Girls Soccer - Undefeated!
Last Saturday evening, the girls soccer team played the Carroll Patriots at home. Early on the Spartans had proved they were the superior team putting their goal scoring ability on display while also displaying their equally impressive defensive ability with Carroll standing no chance as they couldn’t keep up with the Spartans’ speed or skill quickly crumbling under the might of the Spartans. Their immaculate performance resulted in Waynesville ending it with a final score of 7-0.

On Tuesday, the Spartans girls’ soccer team played  the Granville Blue Aces on the road. The Spartans once again showed they came to win dominating on both sides of the field. As per usual the Spartans put on an offensive clinic netting five goals. The defense was equally as tenacious and as a result they played nearly perfect. The match ended with a final score of 5-1 resulting in a Waynesville win.

The girls will continue tournament play in the Regional Finals this Saturday at Beavercreek High School at 7pm vs. Cincinnati Summit Country Day.   GOOD LUCK LADIES SPARTANS!!!

Football
On Friday evening, the Spartans hoped to soar off with a win against the Northeastern Jets on the road. From the opening kickoff The Spartans had struggled to keep up with Northeastern on either side of the ball with it soon turning into a fight for every yard possible for the Spartans. The first half of the game had seen the Spartans staying largely off of the scoreboard save for a touchdown and field goal. The second half of the game was more even with The Spartans scoring two touchdowns and Northeastern scoring a pair themselves and putting up an additional field goal. The game unfortunately did not go how the Spartans had hoped resulting in a final score of 22-45 knocking Waynesville out of playoff contention ending their season with a record of 3-8.

PUMPKIN SCIENCE IN MRS. HERSHNER'S CLASS
Last week we followed the scientific method to observe, form a hypothesis, and collect data on several experiments using pumpkins. We created a chemical reaction, recorded physical changes, estimated weights and measurements, and we are currently observing the decomposition of matter. After our projects were completed each student was able to carve a pumpkin and take it home.

SLEEP ON THE ROOF!
WES PTO’s FUN RUN- Fundraiser was a HUGE success this Fall. Thank you to all participants and sponsors for your fundraising efforts and support.  WES students and families were incentivized with multiple, incremental goals. The TOP goal was obtained- $30,000 + and the principals and staff were challenged to ‘SLEEP ON THE ROOF’!

The staff that volunteered to sleep on the roof were Ms. Janae James, Mrs. Heather Kerns, Mr. Patrick Clark and Mrs. Anna Garafolo. The night of 11/3/22 was a perfect evening to tent/ sleep out under the stars. The skies were clear and bright, and the temperature was perfect. Books were read to help promote the upcoming scholastic book fair. Staff also remained on the roof the following morning to greet students as they returned to school.

Thank you again to our WES families and their support for the Fall 2022 Fun Run!
