LGBTQI World News, Advocacy & Virtual Travel & Events

All the Gay News That's Fit to Link

Made possible by Ashton, the GAYographer
Good afternoon/morning from San Diego <<First Name>>,

Above Tokyo begins providing same sex couples with certificates, providing them some legal recognition for the first time.

If you are in New York, I hope you'll join my Victory 1st Wednesdays group on Facebook - to stay involved politically & elect LGBTQ leaders to office! Over this week - in lieu of a happy hour - we are encouraging people to volunteer, knock on doors and make calls at some point in the week. One important Victory Fund sponsored option is to support Robert Zimmerman in Flushing - on Sunday.

If you need motivation - take a look at this virulently anti-LGBTQ flyer that Ron DeSantis sent out in Florida.

Also, if you want to come out Saturday to Pennsylvania, come stop Dr. Oz (who recently held a campaign event at a "straights only" venue)! You can always phone bank too - but direct in-person engagement is best.

Please get in touch and share your plans!

I'll be headed to help Will Rollins in Palm Springs this weekend!

Hope to see you there,

Ashton

Election 2022: The AP authored a summary about LGBTQ races around the country - including the likely next Governor of Massachusetts and lone Congressperson from Vermont. However, this BAR article has the full list and if you want to truly help in some of the key races - check out this link where funds are needed most. A new poll notes that Generation Z will be coming to the polls this year in greater numbers than ever.

Abortion Watch: The Supreme Court was interrupted by abortion protesters early Wednesday during arguments on an unrelated case. Planned Parenthood is now sending out mobile units to prescribe abortion pills in Illinois. However, reproductive rights are at risk in there, where Democrats could lose the majority on the State Supreme Court. A second woman has now fully come forward to say Hershel Walker urged her to have an abortion.

Putin's War: You know things are going badly when your military leaders are discussing how nuclear weapons could be used - and Masha Gessen says - in this MUST READ article we we be smart to believe Putin will. Surprise news Wednesday that Putin will resume grain shipments. Maybe that's because they are receiving artillery shells from North Korea! Today the G7 will meet to find ways to counter Russia's monopoly on oil - and cap global prices.

Malaysian authorities detained 18 Halloween party attendees (including an LGBTQ activist) in Kuala Lumpur and questioned for cross-dressing or other "vices."

Last week Mexico fully implemented marriage equality, with its passage in the final hold-out state. Check out the 34 States and 47 other jurisdictions world-wide with equality on Rex Wockner's blog.

More on Russia's continued plans to block all publication of LGBTQ issues & stories.

The University of Florida has implemented a protest ban after students protested the possible election of Republican Senator Ben Sasse as school President.

A good news story from Greenville, South Carolina, where a book ban was rejected, despite heated debate over LGBTQ books.

The first openly gay country music singer, Patrick Haggerty passed away - he was lead singer of Lavender Country - and we're "Cryin' these Cocksucking Tears" (yes, that was a song on his debut album).
