ESEM attends EMA Gala dinner



Emirates Medical Association (EMA) held a meeting with the board members of all the scientific societies working under its umbrella on 30th September at Four Seasons Resort, Jumeirah Beach, Dubai.
 
Dr Rasha Buhumaid, ESEM President, represented ESEM at this event. Presidents of various scientific societies presented their stories of success in their respective specialties during the year 2021-2022 along with a summary of their future plans for the development of the society. Dr Mouza Alsharhan, EMA President, awarded appreciation trophies to the scientific societies for their great efforts and contributions in supporting the EMA vision.
 
ESEM is proud to contribute to the collaborative efforts of EMA to attract more medical conferences and raise the profile of Dubai as an international hub for congresses in the medical field.

ESEM22 Pre-Conference Workshop: Trauma Course



The Trauma Workshop focuses on dealing with trauma in special populations; including pediatric trauma, trauma in pregnancy, and the geriatric patient with pre-existing medical comorbidities. The course will also highlight specific trauma mechanisms such as penetrating and blunt trauma.

ESEM22 Pre-Conference Workshop: Sedation Program


The Sedation Workshop is an interesting course for EM physicians and nurses alike, discussing and demonstrating the many applications of sedation in the emergency department. From practical tips on patient positioning and monitoring during the procedure, to more complex discussions on the pharmacology of sedative agents and sedation in special populations, this course is not one to be missed.

Managing Interruptions in the Emergency Department |

Interruptions during an Emergency Medicine shift is inevitable. According to an observational study conducted in 3urban academic Emergency Departments, physicians were interrupted on an average of 12.5times per hour. (Ratwani,2017) 

 
Unfortunately, these interruptions can be a latent source for major medical errors, leading to significant patient mortality and morbidity.
