<<First Name>>

“Remember me when you come into your Kingdom”. These last words of the thief on the cross beside Jesus help to keep us focused as we approach the end of the liturgical year which will end with the feast of Christ the King. The response “Today, you will be with me in paradise”, reminds us that it is never too late to seek help or to change.

In Manresa the leaves are changing colour and falling, (although the song says that leaves don’t fall, they just let go at the right time). Even though the building project is disturbing our normal silent routine, quiet returns at the weekend. So we are able to continue to offer Oasis days and other activities that support the spiritual life.

Ashley Evans SJ
Interim Director

As we enter the Autumn season, we change the clocks back. The night begins early and lasts for many long hours. We stay indoors much more. Perhaps we watch too much television or spend hours on social media. Quiet evenings with books, crosswords or Sudoko puzzles can help us preserve a sacred space where movement into prayer becomes easier and more gentle. Everybody seems to be rushing everywhere, but we don’t need to rush. We can slow down each day and then stop for a while. Just stop. Rest. Let the words of the gospel seep in.

Spiritual Direction

Manresa will continue to provide individual spiritual direction and supervision for directors during the refurbishment period.

Many people have found the benefits in taking time to retreat in their own or in a borrowed private space. We have been glad offer online direction and mass during retreats; now we continue to make resources available for use in your own time.
The Pope's monthly video presents topics that will keep the scope of our prayer inclusive and outward-looking. Pope Francis invites us to pray for the “millions of boys and girls who suffer and live in conditions very similar to slavery”.
