Take Action on Federal Funding for Housing

Join CHCDF Sign-On Letter to Push for Increased Funding for Vital HUD Programs in FY2023

Congressional leaders have left Capitol Hill to campaign in their home districts and states in the run-up to Election Day, but Congressional and appropriations staff have continued behind-the-scenes discussions over a final fiscal year (FY) 2023 spending bill. Though members of both chambers will return to Washington, D.C., in mid-November, they will be in session for only one week before leaving for the Thanksgiving break, making the week of November 14 a pivotal time for FY2023 advocacy. Read more of this article here

Take Action to Ensure the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Addresses the Needs of People with the Lowest Incomes

The U.S. Congress may enact a tax extenders package before the end of 2022. Many tax provisions are authorized for only a set number of years, forcing Congress to reevaluate them periodically and decide whether to extend those provisions that are expiring. With a number of tax provisions up for extension at the end of this year, the tax extenders package presents an opportunity to make needed legislative changes to the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program so that it better serves households with the lowest incomes. Read more of this article here

Funding: Homelessness Prevention & Rehousing Accelerator

Sponsor: Harvard Kennedy School | Government Performance Lab. To apply, please complete and submit this application by 5 p.m. PST on Friday, November 18, 2022. This initial application should take no more than 30 minutes to complete. Register here for our upcoming informational webinar on November 2, 2022, at 2 p.m. EST to learn more.

Call for applications for pro bono technical assistance as part of the Government Performance Lab’s new Homelessness Prevention & Rehousing Accelerator — an initiative through our Homelessness & Housing practice designed to support jurisdictions implementing reforms to reduce homelessness in their communities.  In our work at the GPL, we’ve heard from jurisdictions across the country that homeless response systems that were intended to address temporary housing emergencies have become stretched too thin. Jurisdictions urgently need to reduce the rising numbers of unhoused individuals, but they are also struggling to build sustainable systems that prevent individuals from becoming homeless and expand opportunities for individuals to become housed.

Who should apply: The opportunity is open to state or local jurisdictions or CoC Collaborative Applicants with a government partner. Preference will be given to applicants that demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing equitable outcomes for communities of color.
