Art in the Library
Felton artist Glenn Lyons says, “I am always imagining landscapes in my head, the ocean, mountains, and satellite images. Color comes first for me. I use a pouring medium with my acrylic paints which ensures an organic look to the paintings—no straight lines just as there are no straight lines in nature. Much like raku pottery, the flow medium imparts a randomness to my results. The challenge is channeling it in the directions I desire.”

Park News
The Earth Stewards, a team of sixteen students and three teachers from El Nido High School and Highlands High School, removed sixty-one pounds of invasive species from the park on October 6. This program of the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History provides STEM education to alternative education high school students through outdoor experiences. The team is led by Field Programs Coordinator Chris Soriano, who says, “The classroom experience is important, but it needs to be supplemented by students going outside and seeing science and nature in action—getting outside actually helps kids learn better.” Thank you, Earth Stewards!
