About the Author:

Short Bio: April M. Reign is the bestselling author of more than four dozen action-packed, look-over-your-shoulder supernatural and Sci-Fi books set in modern-day surroundings. She’s the wife of a “creative” like herself and the mother of two adult sons. She’s also a graphic designer, business owner, wanna-be golfer, aspiring photographer, and local traveler.

April does her best writing in her Southern California home with the lights off and an eerie soundtrack to set the mood. She loves to take her readers on a whiplash experience of strong male and female characters, fangs, claws, ancient cursed swords, and powers that will give her characters a chance against the creatures that rip from her mind and spill onto the pages of her next book. Learn more about April at www.aprilmreign.com

Book Tease:
*The Turning Series: Two humans destined to be vampires at birth are turned and challenged to unravel a mystery that could destroy their lineage.
*The Dhellia Series: Satan’s good-natured rebellious daughter, Dhellia, could be his greatest challenge yet.
*The Imprint Series: When scientists fail to remove an alien metal from Jade’s spine, they terminate the program. Now on the run with another survivor from the alien crash, Jade and Aric fight for their survival.

About the Author:

Short Bio: Loving the jungle-wilds of the Santa Ana River, Barbara Iyer worked nineteen years at the Rubidoux Nature Center sharing nature with people via school field trips, summer camps, and Butterfly Days. Since retiring, she led wildflower walks at Harford Springs Park, and explores local nature trails with her children, friends, and grandchildren. Barbara holds a BA in Political Science with a teaching minor in life science (biology) from UC Berkeley.

• Full color photos of each unique plant.
• Park locations for seeking wildflowers.
• Dangerous plants.
• A comprehensive glossary and drawings to help with unfamiliar terms.

This book has more than 80 species descriptions covering the plants you’re most likely to see in southern California’s inland valleys and foothills of western San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Plant descriptions include information about Native American, landscape, and wildlife uses of plants.

About the Author:

Short Bio: "Darren Lee Compton is a writer & illustrator who grew up absorbing 80’s Action and Horror, a lover of monsters and the heroes who hunt them. He grew up in a military family, moving from place to place, surviving a number of bullies, and graduated art school in Washington State. The spark of writing started as far back as middle school, published his first book, Graveslinger, in 2021. He now resides in Southern California. When not writing, he can be found illustrating, chugging Dr. Pepper, noodling on guitar, playing tabletop RPG’s, or binging on horror movies."

Book Tease: Graveslinger - Fiya Pratt Diaz had one job: Making sure the dead stays dead. It used to pay very well. Thomas and his daughter, Liama, escape captivity from a strange cult, finding help in the hands of Fiya Pratt Diaz, a supernatural hunter who specializes in dealing with the undead. Together the three uncover the truth behind the cult members and their release of the deadly plague known as Ghoul Fever in the Seattle area.

About the Author:

Short Bio: Otie Braden - My grandfather started me rock hounding in 1957 at the tender age of ten, he took me to the Anza Borrego desert to dig fire agate then back to his house to shape and polish it on home made lapidary equipment. I still have that first stone. That began a long hobby of Lapidary and rock hounding. When the opportunity to edit the latest version of this book, though retired for years, I couldn’t turn it down.

I didn’t start writing until late in life, got my first book published in 2008 and discovered I had a knack so it seemed like a logical step to take on the Gem trails book and never looked back.

Book Tease: From sandy beaches to desert landscapes, this is the definitive guide to collecting sites throughout Southern California. From San Luis Obispo to the Mexican border you can find out where the best areas are to search. Maps, descriptive text and both color and black and white photos lead you to over 80 sites where you can collect rocks, gems and fossils. Whether you are a novice rockhound or an experienced rockhound this guide is filled with helpful tips to get the best out of each site.

About the Author:

Short Bio: Yesenia Rodriguez was born and raised in Riverside, California. As a self-proclaimed multipotentialite, she has dabbled in many spaces that have shaped her writing. She thinks of her time as a cosmetologist and the beneficial impact that one’s appearance can have on their self-confidence. Yesenia believes what one does for others and how one treats them can leave a much greater influence. You will find her traveling and creating memories with her daughter.

Book Tease: Lani Rae is a little girl with many interests and lots of hair. When she learns that her best friend needs help, she searches for a way to make things better. Find out how she discovers the power behind friendship and kindness.

Rudy is 🦎 enjoying breakfast this morning!  He is a Green Iguana that is naturally ruby red in color.  Through selective breeding there are many shades of red, orange and yellow available.

Iguanas are herbivores, meaning they eat plants.  Rudy gets squash,  seasonal fruits, greens, and flowers.  In the wild they will eat a wide range of leaves, fruit, and flowers.

Rudy came to us from a family that caught him by their pool.  We first thought he might be Ruby, but he soon developed pronounced dorsal spines and jowls.

Stop in to visit with Rudy in the Critter Corner.  You can also help care for him by sponsoring him. If you’d like to sponsor a critter, please visit our website at https://jmdc.org/sponsor-a-critter/
