USDA Southwest Climate Hub Agricultural Risk Associate
The USDA Southwest Climate Hub in partnership with Montana State University, UC Davis, and the National Center for Appropriate Technology has an opening for an agricultural risk associate that will focus on improving climate, weather, and risk communication with key stakeholders through the development of online visualization tools. This is an annual position with an optional extension of up to three-years housed at the Southwest Climate Hub in Las Cruces, NM. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of researchers at USDA Climate Hubs, Montana State University, UC Davis, and the National Center for Appropriate Technology.

New Mexico Tribal Liaison
South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center
This position manages relationships between the South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center (CASC) and its Tribal partners in New Mexico. The liaison will be responsible for working closely with partners from a variety of Tribes, Pueblos, and inter-tribal organizations in New Mexico to develop and deliver trainings on climate adaptation and related topics, provide support to communities seeking or engaged in adaptation activities, and work to identify and reduce barriers to implementing Tribal adaptation activities. The liaison will primarily develop these tribal engagement efforts in New Mexico based on their own experience but with guidance from the South Central CASC Tribal Engagement Program team.

Climate Program Support Internship
The Resource Assistants will assist with a variety of routine and frequently complex tasks involving the climate change program and will help successfully develop and implement the Region’s 1) Climate Adaptation Framework, 2) the Climate Action Plan, and 3) the Climate Adaptation Strategy.
Specific duties:
- Assist in developing, compiling, and communicating information for all aspects of the Region’s climate action plan and strategy.
- Depending upon the RA’s interests and skills, the work could include science delivery such as developing briefing papers, online tools, and other media effective for applied science program delivery including internal and external website content.
- Will provide program coordination when interacting with Regional Office, National Forest, and partner staff.
- Will provide various support functions including logistical support and documentation of in-person and virtual meetings and workshops.
- Other routines or complex tasks involve the climate and ecology programs as assigned.

Native Climate Reporter Internship
Native Climate seeks Native American Students interested in building skills in journalism to write news stories about the impacts of climate change on Native American communities in the Southwest and Northern Plains regions of the US. Climate Reporter Interns will report on stories about climate impacts and adaptations by tribes located in their regions and gain experience developing multi-media communications for the web and social media. Articles will be published on the Native Climate website and shared among project partners.
