Associate Technical Writer (Remote)

About the Opportunity: Care about the Oxford comma, UI consistency, and making complex concepts clear? If so, join us as an Associate Technical Writer where your passion for technology, strong communication and documentation skills will be utilized on a newly created team that collaborates with other writers, product managers, developers, and data scientists. 

This team will deliver high-quality documentation about our products and processes. You will analyze and translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences to make them transparent and approachable. You will work closely with the other members of Product Management team to deliver everything from user guides to release notes. You will also support the engineering department by helping generate stronger documentation of features. The documentation you create will enable more efficiency and organization internally, and most importantly, it will allow Silent Eight customers to better understand and leverage Silent Eight’s products and new features. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Create accurate, thorough documentation in a fast-paced environment to support a variety of deliverables including user guides, release notes, and knowledge base articles
  • Learn functions of internally developed software to write end-user documentation 
  • Translate scrum teamwork into customer-facing release notes 
  • Gather information from multiple resources to understand the enhancements for each new product release
  • Edit other writers' content and documentation for consistency and continuously update content with current information
  • Contribute to process improvement, style guidelines, and best practices and serve as an advocate for content standards
  • Create graphics, capture screenshots, and build training materials that go beyond traditional documentation, including videos
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical communication, English, professional writing, computer science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1+ years of successful technical writing in a software/technical setting
  • Thorough knowledge of technical writing and publication methods, processes, and best practices
  • Ability to learn software products to write clear, concise, accurate, and usable documentation
  • Ability to organize, manage, and track multiple detailed assignments with frequently changing priorities to thrive in a collaborative environment driven by transparency
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of people (technical skill level, communication style, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A positive attitude and willingness to jump in and tackle new challenges
  • Experience utilizing MadCap Flare or other content management systems, Confluence, JIRA, and GitHub preferred

Technical Content Coordinator (Remote)

About the Opportunity: As a publishing coordinator, you will be responsible for the publication of documentation for Sagent software systems. You will have the opportunity to work with others using MadCap Flare to set standards and develop common processes for documentation across product lines. You will work with technical writers and other content contributors/SMEs to ensure consistency and adherence to industry, corporate, and departmental standards. Not all content is in Flare and you will have the opportunity to influence the plan to move additional documentation into this system.

Our team will provide you with the best tools, resources, and compensation to get the job done…and enjoy every minute of it. And if it couldn’t get any better….this role is REMOTE!

Your Day-to-Day at Sagent:

  • Work with product managers, product marketing, and engineers to produce and maintain world-class documentation, including: User Guides, Integration Guides, API Developer Guides, In platform documentation (tooltips, welcome instructions, etc.).
  • Maintain/update the documentation website and suggest enhancements to the website functionality
  • Maintain the publications schedule for each product and coordinate with contributors to ensure material is received by stated deadlines and then publish that material
  • Maintain/publish that non-Flare content according to existing processes
  • Work with content that is single-sourced in a SQL database
  • Learn complex concepts, and communicate the information in a way that is engaging and understood by users
  • Gather customer feedback on documentation to improve usability
  • Act as an editor to ensure consistency in training documentation
  • Monitor metrics on the usage of training materials as well as direct customer feedback to prioritize future training investments

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • 3-5 years of technical writing experience.
  • Financial Industry experience is a plus
  • SaaS experience is preferred
  • Previous experience with MadCap suite of content management/publishing tools
  • Knowledge of information architecture/how best to present information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working cross-departmentally to ensure product software is documented thoroughly and accurately
  • Strong ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Previous experience with documentation and publishing processes
  • Previous experience with Microsoft suite - including Microsoft Access
