This week at number 9 in our countdown of the top ten ways FIC has impacted the intentional communities movement this past year, we focus on kids in community. This includes birthing, raising and educating these young communitarian leaders of our future.
As a new father, I have never valued community more. What better way to raise the leaders of our future than to do so in a values-aligned community? Especially where children grow up feeling as if they are raised by many diverse humans who are practicing how to be in good relation to themselves, to each other, to those living outside the community, to the earth, and to future generations.
It takes a village to raise a child.

We're currently working out our strategy for 2023, and have a new course on this topic planned for 2023.
Do children thrive in community? Many believe not only do they thrive, but so do their parents who have a wider and more accessible support network.
Children gain more adults as role models as well as instant playmates. They may have intriguing facilities and landscapes to explore without taking a car ride to get there, and considerable options for education.
The book includes 22 articles to help you understand the benefits and challenges to raising children in community, as well as the myriad of learning options for children in this unique environment.
