Outreach Ministry in India

Plans are being made at Bright Beginnings for the Children’s Day celebration on November 14. John, Sudha, and their son, Roshan, will travel by overnight train to Ponnur this Friday and will be able to celebrate with Bright Beginnings.
Six parents are taking adult education reading classes at Bright Beginnings. Others would like to participate as well, but they need to be at work when the classes are being held.
Praveen is feeling proud because of his school accomplishments.
Each month Outreach sends money to Bright Beginnings. These funds are used to purchase food and materials for the students. At the time the 2022 Outreach budget was approved there were 42 children attending Bright Beginnings. Now the number of students has risen to 63! John and Sudha are trying to “stretch” the funds, but this is difficult. Might it be possible for you to make a one-time or monthly donation to Outreach in India? Every little bit helps!
Any contribution you could make to Outreach in India via Tithe.ly or check would be used to purchase uniforms, food, and materials for Bright Beginnings. There is now a drop down line on Tithe.ly for Outreach in India. Checks may be written to All Saints’ Episcopal Church. In the memo line please write: “Outreach – Mission in India”.

Thank you to those who have already and are continuing to contribute! Your generosity is having a huge impact on the lives of children and their families.

2022 National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Dinner at the Frederick Community Table- Sponsored by Frederick Interfaith

For the past 19 years, during National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, Frederick Interfaith has recognized the first day of that week as a Community Day of Prayer for the Hungry & Homeless. As we encourage all faith groups to dedicate specific thought and prayer to those in need on that day, we culminate the Community Day of Prayer with a dinner provided by many different faith groups and served at the Community Action Agency Community Table  (formerly known as the Soup Kitchen), located near the back of the building at 100 South Market Street in Frederick. This year the dinner will be on Sunday, November 13, 2022. We will be serving about 80 people in the dining hall from 5:00 - 6:30pm.

We hope that you can participate in this ongoing endeavor to help those who are less fortunate than us and to come together in solidarity to focus on this issue of deep need. The food for the dinner can be dropped off at the Soup Kitchen at any time but it must be there by 3pm on Sunday, Nov. 13. Kindly sign up below or email me if you would like to contribute food. There is a glass door to the left at the back of the building that you can enter at any time, and someone will be there to take your food donations. Please label it for Sunday Nov. 13 dinner. We are also encouraging you to make monetary donations to Blessings in Backpack supplemental food program for low income students.

The Annual Interfaith Candlelight Prayer Walk will resume this year and will begin after dinner at 6:45pm outside the Community Table. We hope you and your families and friends will join us for this special event. You do not have to contribute to the dinner to join us in the prayer walk. Thank you for helping us continue this important community tradition. Events are sponsored by Frederick Interfaith. If you have questions please contact Teresa Ismach of Frederick Interfaith tismach9@gmail.com.

The Getting Ahead Program

All Saints is participating in the Getting Ahead Program by once again providing meals for the Investigators, Facilitators, Child Care providers and children.  We participated last week on Thursday, November 3. Thank you so much to Cathy and friends for providing the meal for that session. The feedback that we received was that the dinner was “delicious”! A reminder that the Getting Ahead program helps low-income families move from dependency to self-sufficiency through education, self-assessment, and mentoring experience.  The Investigators (participants) will take a look at their current situation and plan for the future all while building relationships, setting goals, and resources to get ahead. This program serves our local community members who generally would be considered our working poor.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Katy Ackland at kackland921@aol.com or Laura Hammond at lauralucia00@gmail.com.
.
Thank you for all you do to support our community!

Holiday Outreach Project: Stay Tuned!

Plans are in the making for people at All Saints’ to have the opportunity to buy a holiday gift for a child at Centro Hispano. Like last year, folks interested in participating will be given the name, age, and gender of a child, as well as specific gift suggestions. All Saints' will be "sponsoring" 30 children. I have already heard from 21 parishioners who are eager to participate! There are openings for 9 more folks from All Saints'. Thanks to those individuals and families who have already contacted me. If you are interested in participating, it would be helpful if you could email me, Linda Miller, lindy205@verizon.net, as soon as possible.

Prayers for Ukraine

“ We pray for peace. … We pray for a just peace.
We pray that the lives of innocents and the lives of any
human child of God will be spared.
We pray that our leaders will find a diplomatic way, a nonviolent way. “

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, Faith Vigil for Peace in Ukraine
To fund relief efforts in Ukraine, we recommend supporting Mercy Corps: https://www.mercycorps.org/.
Additionally, here is information from the Episcopal Church:
Donations to Episcopal Relief & Development’s “INTERNATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE” fund will provide humanitarian assistance for the crisis in Ukraine. Working through the Action by Churches Together Alliance (ACT Alliance), your donation will provide cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needed assistance.
To donate, use this link (the fund is the second option on the list) or call 1.855.312.4325.
